About Us

Carleton Crematorium near Carleton Village in Blackpool was opened in 1935 to cater to the local community. The crematorium building which is within the grounds of Carleton Cemetery was designed by architect J.C Robinson who used the Mausoleum of Mausolus as inspiration. The crematorium and cemetery is well-known for a number of famous cremations, including conservationist and children’s book writer, Beatrix Potter.

Carleton Crematorium has inter-denominational sections for cremated remains, which is offered as an alternative to interring ashes in niches. For an ever lasting memorial to your loved one, you can add an entry into the Book of Remembrance held in the Book of Remembrance room in the Crematorium building.

For any questions about the cremation process or for additional details for memorial options, call the Cemeteries and Crematorium office now.

Carleton Cemetery office is open Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 4.00 pm. The Book of remembrance is open on weekdays from 9 am to 6 pm and on weekends and bank holidays from 8 am to 6 pm.
