The most distinctive feature at Durham Crematorium is the octagonal tower, which is echoed throughout the landscaped design in the memorial gardens. Inside the tower is the chapel which has beautiful woodland views, and seating for approximately 60. The chapel has a sophisticated media system which can play recorded music, as well as a 55-inch TV screen for photographic tributes and webcast capabilities. There is also a Viscount organ available for hymns.

The memorial garden is a peaceful place to remember your loved one's life. You may opt for a plaque, planter, or bench seat as a visual marker in this garden, or a niche for the interment of ashes. Both the chapel and gardens have accessibility considerations for the less mobile, and there is an induction loop in the former.

The Durham Crematorium occupies a spot on the southern edge of the city, but while it may be further out, it can still be reached by public transport - a bus stop is available directly opposite the entrance. There is also space for 42 cars to park within the grounds.
