Guide to Funeral Directors in Taunton

The historic county town of Somerset, Taunton rose to importance during medieval times. Famous for its cider production, the town and surrounding area (a region known as Taunton Deane) are increasingly popular, with continuing population growth predicted in the next few years.

There are 11 funeral directors in the Taunton area, serving a population of about 64,000. National chains are represented amongst them, as are independent firms and small family-run businesses, all with supportive local knowledge.

Over 60 per cent of the people living in Taunton identify as Christian. The town has over 21 churches. These include the historic Unitarian church on Mary Street, famous for having welcomed the romantic poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge as a guest preacher. A further 25 per cent of people living in the region state that they are non-religious, meaning that funeral directors in Taunton are experienced in providing both secular and Humanist services and can offer sympathetic advice regarding these.

Taunton Deane Crematorium on the outskirts of the town serves the region for burials and cremations. In addition there are three further cemeteries locally: Wellington Cemetery at Wellington, St James Cemetery and St Mary’s Cemetery, both within Taunton itself.

Excellent standard of care and compassion for the deceased and family members, they go above and beyond to help in any way they can. Nothing is too much trouble and they make the whole process as easy as it can be, some of the kindest people I have had the pleasure to meet in difficult circumstances, I would recommend them wholeheartedly.

Care, respect and compassion - the crescent way is a really good description of the excellent experience I had with Crescent Funeral Services. They were friendly, helpful and efficient and made dealing with the practical arrangements of my Mums death so much easier than it might have been. I highly recommend them. Thank you to Robert, Simon and James

We chose to go with Crescent Funeral Service, as during this difficult time they were very compassionate and supportive. Robert was our FD and was very patient with us and was happy to explain steps for planning a funeral as this was our first time in doing this sort of thing. He was also very helpful in providing suggestions and recommendations that complemented traditions from different culture. Thank you CFS and Robert for your help and providing a lovely service for my Dad.

From the moment they came to pick up mum the care and dedication and respect shown was obvious.  Nothing was too much trouble, Simon answered all questions in detail and clearly. The planning was impeccable and we couldn’t have been happier with Simon and the team.  This is not the first time I have had occasion to be in need of Simons services and each time he has been excellent.  I am very happy to recommend
