In loving memory of Leonard Alfred Baker who sadly passed away on 21st March 2016

Jon Wicken wrote

In 2015, my aunt Margaret Binns received a letter at Christmas from Len Baker with an update on his health. Her husband Ken Binns knew him through the firm he worked for, Venesta in Silvertown, as the firm used Len for any presentations that needed to be made. Margaret has often wondered what happened to Len after receiving that letter.

Tonight she mentioned him, got out the 2015 letter from Len that she still has and as she read it aloud, I tried to find out what happened to Len. The wonder of the internet means I find this page and could tell her he died in 2016.

She has been telling me stories about him and said he and his wife were such friendly people. Most of her jewellery she still has came from him. I thought if anyone in the family checks this page, the family may like to know we have spoken about him today and how Margaret still holds him in such high regard.

  • Thank you for your message. Sorry for the delay, I was researching my Great Grandfather for a family tree when I came across your message. My name is Lee and I'm Lens grandson. It was lovely to read your kind words and good to know that the internet can sometimes be used as a positive tool. All the best Lee

Len and Peg stayed with us while in Ohio years back, he and I have kept in touch over the years. When I went on trips I would send him a card knowing that I would hear from him. I always enjoyed his wit, kindness, and stories. I will miss him, and send my deepest condolences to all who loved him. My sadness is temporary knowing that he is now with his beloved Peggy.
