In loving memory of Edna Patricia Everitt who sadly passed away on 1st September 2016

Mum was born in 1931 and had, in her words, loving brothers and sisters. She spoke fondly of her mum and dad. She was evacuated during the war and told great stories about 'Aunty and Uncle' with whom she spent time with in Wales.

She had an array of jobs throughout her life: wallpaper shop, on the buses, in the hospital, Kimberly Clark's, cleaning, Cinema, Hop Picking to name just a few. She did voluntary work with charities including the Salvation Army and helping the homeless and up until a couple of years ago, volunteering at a junior school to help children improve their reading.....and of course a Mother!

She set up, organised and ran a majorettes troupe.

And, inspirational as always, she returned to college, in her 30's to get the O'levels she missed out on when she was a child, owing to the war.

Mum loved her husband George, and spoke about him daily. His passing in 2008 broke her heart.

She had 5 children, Linda, Tracey, Andrew, Hayley and Darren. She loved all her children, speaking fondly of them all, right up to the moment of her passing.

She had 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild, whom she adored.

Mum was devoted to the Salvation Army, it was her passion, her calling serving it throughout her life. One of her fondest memories was attending the Royal Albert hall when she was 14, to watch the Salvation Army band and singers perform; She made some true friends through the Salvation Army, Maureen, Anna and Audrey. They remained with her always and were so close to one another.

Susan was her neighbour for over 40 years and remained a true and dedicated friend, throughout mum's illness.

This is a celebration to the life of a wonderful woman, a great lady and a true friend please fill this book with love and help celebrate the life of my mum:-

Edna will be fondly remembered as a good neighbour to our mum and someone who was a Christian and trusted in the Lord.

We were able to see her a week before she died and was able to share a bible reading with her which was a good moment to share with her. The reading was from 2 Chronicles 9:16 first part. We also remembered Romans 8:28 with her as this shows the love the Lord has for those he has chosen.

Edna's family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers on the day of her funeral and appreciate that a Edna being a Christian was the best kind of neighbour.

Love Lance and Jennifer Botelle

I only knew Edna for a short time, but I am so pleased I had that time with her, we had lots of pleasurable chats and had laughs when we went shopping, I could have spent hours talking with her. Edna was a strong, independent woman, who always put others before herself and thought the world of her family and friends. She even had time for my own 3 children.

After spending 2 weeks with Edna towards the end, chatting, laughing, talking about the war and life in general, she still stayed positive and put others first and smiled through the pain.
I was gutted to hear the news she'd passed shortly after.
I will miss her loads, the only comfort is knowing she was with the people she loved at the end and was in her own home, and kept her dignity till the end too, which is what she wanted. now out of pain, and Reunited with her true love George. May you rest in peace Edna

Thinking of all Edna's friends and family at this sad time. ?

My Very Dear Friend Edna,
How I cherish spending your last hours with you - your family and friends. Knowing now you are free from pain. Living on with the assured hope of being in the presence of The Lord Jesus for evermore. Knowing too that because we know and love The Lord Jesus we shall meet again in Heaven. The truth of this comforts me through these days when you are no longer around. I thank you dearest Edna for your love and friendship over so many years. My thoughts and prayers are now for your immediate family, your church family and those who loved you. Praying the peace of The Lord Jesus will be present as you walk through this time of grief and bring you each His peace in your hearts.
In the love of Jesus. Audrey xxx

Edna, my dear friend and neighbour for over forty years. I miss you very much already and always will.
We shared a love of gardening and often had tips to pass on to each other. We had many a discussion over a cup of tea and a cake about what we did as children and how life has changed for our families, and of course the weather.
You were always a strong lady with a great love for all your family and a Christian faith which carried you through many a trial throughout your life. God bless you Edna, rest in the arms of your saviour Jesus.

  • Thank you Susan, you were a wonderful neighbour to mum, caring and reliable. I cannot thank you enough for the kindness, warmth, love and company you gave mum, especially over the last year where mum and I relied on your help so much as her health really began to deteriorate. She was very lucky to have you as a neighbor and a good friend for so many years, she was truly blessed. Once again, thank you for everything Darren x

It was a great honour to have met Edna, with Sonny and Daniel. She was such a welcoming, kind lady. My only regret was not taking Sonny to see her as much as I would have liked. Sonny was her great grandson and it was lovely to hear she adored him. May you rest in peace Edna, God bless you xxxxxx

Not much more to add that Darren has not wrote .
Apart from Mum lived with the Bible in one hand and her heart in the other. Mum always thought of others first first , even to her dying days . Apologising to the carers and nurses for being trouble.
Ed was a good Mum to Lynda, Tracey , Darren , myself and Hayley ( Spare the rod , spoil the child) .
Mum and Dad did their best and brought us up all well.
Mum was a very strong woman with an even stronger will , she never had much in the way of riches but she had her children ..
If you was a good listener , Mum could tell you some good stories but `dont mention the war` !
Love you Mum . XxX

  • Such a lovely photograph of George and Edna with little Miranda - one of the prettiest little girls with the most beautiful fair curls. Miranda loved her Grandparents dearly in fact they were like second parents to her. With love from Audrey xx
