In this select company, this restless expatriate legion, often the best that can be said of a man is that he was a good expat. Gordon Jackson was an exceptional and thoughtful man, a friend, and indeed a valued mentor. He was a good expat and then some. That’s good enough. Fair winds and following seas my friend; your journey has just begun.

Farewell my dear old friend. We became buddies in 1971 when you supported me through a troubled period of my life. I well remember your beagle, Shep, who would do his best to bite lumps out of me. When I first visited you in Mill Lane Barn, Charlie did his best to continue the tradition. When I saw you for the last time, you told me you had enjoyed "a bloody good life" and were ready for off. You certainly did. Your stories, your jaundiced view of the world and your accumulated wisdom were always entertaining and supportive. Rest in Peace, dear old boy.

I was saddened to learn of my Uncle Gordon's passing.. I have very fond memories from all of my life from the house at Pagham to meeting up at Niagra Falls.. I am sorry to say that neither myself nor my husband can attend the funeral as we are not going to be in the country at that time.
So, rest in peace Uncle Gordon,,,
With love and love,
As you used to call me,,, Paulie xxx

RIP my dear old friend Gordon. I looked on you as my mentor and often thought of how you would deal with situations which cropped up in my subsequent business career. Great parties in Dhahran, great times in Worcester, Ilfracombe and Buckland Brewer. Our mutual outrage at some of the injustices in the world and our remedies for political and commercial incompetence will stay with me as will your friendship.

I have only known Gordon for a few years, I worked with him at the Citizens advice bureau for about 5 years. I really looked forward to see him each week as he told amazing stories of his past.
I am very sad to hear of his passing and will miss him greatly.
I am also sorry that I am unable to attend the funeral.

Love and best wishes Barry.

Dearest Gordon
Although ours was a brief acquaintance, you made me feel like family. Will never forget the nickname you gave to Victoria 'Little Sausage', bird watching in your garden, meals at your conservatory, walk down the beach....
You will be remembered and loved forever for your giving and kindness, sense of humor and great big heart.
Rest in peace in our Lord Jesus.
Ling
