In loving memory of "Sally" Sarah Ann May Goodey who sadly passed away on 26th November 2016. Sally was born on 12th January, 1933 in Greenwich. She grew up in turbulent times, experienced her birth mother leaving the family home, was evacuated to Dorchester, was rescued from a direct hit on a shelter in war-torn London. In 1954, Sally Loft was married to Bill Goodey and they built a new life together. Sally worked as a clerk and as a GPO telephonist before having children. In 1963, Baby Billy was born and was followed by his younger brother John in 1965. The two boys were always the centre of Sally's world. She showed them nothing but love and kindness for the rest of her life. Sally returned to work as an administrative officer for Lewisham Council and Bill continued to work as a self-employed painter and decorator. Sally and Bill retired in 1988 to live in Birchington on the Kent Coast and their house became a regular destination for family members at weekends. Bill died in 2004 and Sally moved to Bromley to be nearer to John, Billy now living in America. Everyone who met Sally felt her gentle spirit and her kindness. Sally's life was not always easy but she only reflected the good in life, often shown through her beautiful smile. Sally is still smiling in our hearts.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and Bill at this time. Your mum will always be remembered for her warmth, kindness and selfless nature. Every year for about twenty years, she knitted Easter bunnies for children in three infant classes, which demonstrated her caring demeanour. Those whose lives she touched will be richer for the experience.

St Mary's School Staff donated in memory of "Sally"

All the staff at St Mary's would like to convey our deepest sympathy at this sad time. The staff and children will always have fond memories of Sally for her kindness. The children loved her knitted Easter Egg covers for the annual Easter Egg Hunt.

May God give John, his family and friends peace and comfort.
