In loving memory of Mark Anthony Turner, who sadly passed away on 4th December 2016. Mark leaves behind a loving family, his wife Kim and three children Mark, Amy, James and his older brother Albert. Mark will be missed by many, family, friends and work colleagues alike.

Mark was a loving family man; we have many good memories of great holidays in Dorset and Cornwall with Dave and Jo and Cab and Dee. Earlier on in life Mark enjoyed wind surfing and canoeing, those pass times in later life were replaced with weekend spend in the family caravan as well as fresh water and sea fishing. Fishing was a hobby that both him and his brother shared.

Mark also enjoyed running, taking part in the London Marathon in 1995. He also completed many walks with his walking buddies, Rusty, Andy, Kevin and Cab to name a few.

If you were to ask any one of Mark's Friends or family, they would tell you that he was best known for his sense of humour and comedy knowledge.

Throughout his life Mark enjoyed maintaining cars especially Mini's and later enjoyed owning and driving his Ford Mondeo and Landrover Defender '90.

Mark's most notable hobby was to restore old British motor bikes with Cab, Mark was particularly fond of Triumph and Norton. A highlight of this period of his life was the Triumph TSS that him and Cab re-build, adding custom designed components that Mark had tinkered with to solve known issues with that model of bike. This trait was typically Mark, he liked to be able to use his engineering background to solve problems, for himself and his friends and Family

I met Mark as he helped me with pressing in some bearings for my s40. It was a bit awkward, but he was ever resourceful and he cracked it. We swapped horror stories of our various automotive disaster areas we had battled to keep running over the years. I wish I knew a tenth of what he knew in terms of engineering skills, but as with others, I learned from him and his 'feel' for machines and materials lives on whenever we grab a meter and some spanners and get the old bucket running again.

I am grateful to have known Mark. He brought joy, humour, knowledge and experience to those of us that walked with him in the hills and mountains of the UK. I will miss him!
It was fitting to see the Crematorium absolutely full to the brim and with standing room only.
Andy

Mark, you were always so kind and helpful. You always had a smile and advice, or just a funny story, for me. You will be missed.

So sad to lose such a great guy, with so much energy. I spent many hours down in L40 with him making parts for the Formula Student car, and he always went above and beyond for the team, and gave up time at evenings and weekends to take the car testing at Bruntingthorpe, and to events at Silverstone and Prescott Hillclimb. His passion for engineering and cars really shone through, and he was always up for a laugh. I'll never forget the contribution he made to the projects I worked on and my education, and I know that the hundreds of other students he worked with will feel the same.

I was lucky enough to work with Mark for most of his time at Aston University. We shared a workshop and many good times together at work, in the pub, or even on the train home. He was a good man and a good friend and like so many others I will miss him, but always remember him and I will smile when I do.

Mark was a great man, clever engineer, we have shared thoughts and problem solving. We have discussed engineering in general but mostly motor bikes. Mark will be missed by all of us at Aston University.

Mark was always a kind and considerate work colleague and friend. There was always a cuppa and a chat on offer in the Aston workshop tea room. He will be much missed.

Mark has been a very good friend and colleague to me since he came to Aston. I know that I, my colleagues and the many students that knew him really appreciated the knowledge and experiences he shared and the support, encouragement and advice that he always gave. He will be greatly missed.

I was fortunate enough to be at Aston Uni when Mark started in 2009 and I, along with numerous other students, will always be indebted to him for his knowledge and passion for engineering. His help and support helping to build both our race car and IIT Bombay's for the Formula Student competition will never be forgotten. It was a pleasure knowing him. Thanks for all your help Mark. RIP.
