National service in the army as a driver on discharge continued driving for some years.
Continued to live around the Tottenham area
Became a builder with a mentor Mr. Trafford
Married mum 1955 and had 4 boys whilst living in North London
Moved to Kidbrook south London in 1968 had his only daughter.

Worked for servo warm for many years as a heating engineer
Later went back to building works and taught Geoff his son a trade which he was very proud of.

Worked his whole life to support his wife and children often 7 days a week with long hours.

Although this hard life took a toll on his health he remained an active man with a love for life.

An extremely dexterous and clever man who could turn his hand to absolutely anything from
Wood carving to electronic.

Loved nothing more than to make people happy and do them a good turn.

On retirement spent the later part of his life immersed in his children and grandchildren and was the focus to hold the family together.

Had different places in his heart for us all and enjoyed our company in very different ways.

‘You are a gorgeous girl’ these were the last words you spoke to me. I close my eyes tightly and I can feel the last moments we shared. You held my hand tightly, tighter than ever before, kissed me for just a little longer and looked into my eyes when you uttered the words that I will forever be thankful that you said.

The days have been long since you left, the nights filled with thoughts and reflection. Many people talk about the loss they feel at your passing but strangely I feel your presence in so many ways every single day.

A passing glance at something obscure creates a memory of something we shared. I hear your voice in my head as real as if you still stand next to me. I feel a message is being sent when I see a sign that reminds me of you. I’m comforted that that although you are no longer here for me to touch and see that you stand alongside me watching over keeping guard.

Often my mind wanders to a moment in time, I smile, cry, reflect.

Today I drove a 230 mile journey thinking how much you hated the amount I spent on the road. I missed making the call on route that would have started with you answering ‘hello darling’ and ending with ‘See you later Dad’ I said it out loud several times today and will continue to do so just to make sure you know that its not goodbye, never will be goodbye – it’s simple ‘rest easy Dad and I’ll see you later’ xxx

What can I say you gave everyone so many wonderful memories which I'm sure we will all cherish forever.
You were always there whenever and no matter what and for that I want to say thank you.

You touched so many hearts for just being yourself and I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say you will be missed massively for all of the above and so much more!

I love you Grandad and until I get to see you again keep the laughter going up there by being yourself.

For my dearest dad. I wanted to say thank you. Thank you for being my mentor, my rock, my guide and my friend, but above all, just for being there and for being my dad.

The laughs and jokes we shared, now precious; our love and respect for one another, was deep; and our bond, undeniable. Your strength and fortitude in adversity was inspirational and the gaping chasm you have left behind is unhealable. I shall miss you until my own morning sun no longer rises. I hope your soul is blissful and you walk amongst those you love, who have gone before. I take solace you are with them. I know your hand will forever be on my shoulder, as it has always been and my heart will remain filled with memories and love for you.

When the darkness and shadows bear down, you should know,
"the light that you left me, will EVERGLOW”.

Now sleep in eternal comfort dad. I Love You.

Your humble son…Geoff

To my lovely Grandad,
What can I say, so many lovely memories! I'll always remember staying at yours and having a 'picnic', spending every Christmas Eve at yours and you helping me with my homework about the war. And of course, you wearing that bow headband at our wedding! You always made me laugh! Such a lovely, caring grandad and I will miss you so much. I only wish I got to see more of you since moving away.
Sleep tight, sloppy kisses.
Love Emma, Matt, Holly and Evie xxx
