In loving memory of Edward Hildreth who sadly passed away on 23rd March 2017.
Loving Husband of Wendy, Dear Father of Adele, David and Joanne. Loved Father-in-law of Johnny, Darrell and Suzanne. Grandfather of Jack, Harrison, Bryony, Harley and Barnaby. A Brother, Uncle and a good friend to many who will be sadly missed.
Eddie was born in Tow Law, County Durham on 21st October 1937. He was the youngest son of Doris and Ted Hildreth. Brother to Freda, Harry,Dot and Dougie.
Eddie did his national service with the RAF then moved with his mum and dad to Lothair Road, Leicester, where he worked as a gas fitter, a swimming pool lifeguard, swimming instructor then working his way up to pool manager. He met Wendy in 1964 at Vestry Street Pool whilst she was having swimming Lessons and they married on 10th September 1966. Adele Wendy was then born in 1967, followed by David Newrick in 1969 then Joanne in 1970.
They all lived round the corner from his mum at 4 Hughenden Drive until they finally moved in 1982 to 48 Dean Court
Road , Knighton. Eddie retired from the the baths department in 1997 but continued to work part time as a security guard on the Freemans Common whole sale market.
Unfortunately Eddie suffered a stroke in June 2016 and although he made a fairly descent recovery he never recovered his mobility and became quite poorly in March this year. He passed away at the Royal Infirmary surrounded by his nearest family. Eddie and Wendy had sold their house and had bought a lovely Bungalow in Markfield which Wendy moved to the day after Eddie was admitted to hospital so sadly he never made it to his new home.

So very sorry we will not be able to attend uncle Eddie's funeral.
Will always remember his lovely laugh and sunny outlook on life. Also when he would take dad mam and me and Sue to St. Margaret swimming pool when it was closed, good times had by all when Eddie was around.

Very sorry that we will not be able to attend the funeral but will always have the memories of how Eddie enjoyed life and made me and Doug laugh. Will never forget the time in a motorway café in the sixties he mistook Dick Emery(comedian) for Charlie Drake(blonde tiny comedian) and wouldn't let him have a meal in peace. We had to leave quickly. Great memories.
