Samuel Kwaku Kissi Ohene

We will be remembering Sam in a service at the South Chapel at the City of London Cemetery, E12 5DQ on Thursday 20th April. Please arrive by 2.30pm for a prompt 2.45pm start. The service will last for one hour.

We kindly ask that you do not bring flowers to the service - we would instead ask that you make a donation in his memory to either Oxfam or Save the Children, both of which were charities that he supported for many years.

Please feel free to wear what you would like, as Sam was a vibrant and unique man and he wouldn't want people to feel constrained by the usual norms!

Thank you for all your kind messages and offers of support,

Bridget, Phoebe & Natalie

I worked with Sam at Camden . He certainly had his own style and was proof to the fact that you could combine hard work with fun. I was kept up to date on festivals , gigs , Gregory Porter , restaurants and red wine ! Where am I going to get my "stonking good wine" recommendations from now ? Wherever you are Sam I hope they've got a good supply. Was so good to have known you and certainly have memories that will stay with me Rodger

I worked with Sam and every single day working with him was a pleasure. I will miss his smile, his laugh and most of all his words of wisdom. No one could make me laugh like Sam did. I am sad I will never get the chance to have one last sandwich with him sat on a wall near a building site. I feel so lucky to have known Sam and spent so many good times with him. A kind, gentle, learned wise man who had the biggest heart. He always looked after me and would always go the extra mile to help you. My thoughts are with the family and friends he use to speak to fondly of and with so much love.

I will miss you my old mate; your stories, your advice and most of all your larger then life character. You made such an impression on my life as I know you have so many others. Keep them in check up there and you will always hold a special place in my memories. Il raise a glass of red to you my friend.

God bless.

You could only love Sam. Larger than life and one of the funniest characters to meet but so much more. Devoted and principled, loyal and fearless. So many wonderful memories. Your passing is very sad and far too soon but your memory and legacy will continue through your family and close friends. RIP Prince Sam and love to Bridget, Phoebe and Natalie.

I heard of Sam's passing today and was deeply saddened. I worked with Sam at Genesis and for two relatively senior professionals we had such a laugh together. He was forever raising his eyebrows at me and setting us off on the giggles or making private observations in the world's loudest whisper.

He was so proud of his family and often talked of you.

He mentored me and I learned a lot from him. I'll miss you Sam, you are one of the people I am happiest and proudest to have met and call friend.

Shocked and saddened to hear the news of Sam. I worked closely with Sam at Pick Everard. Sam was brilliant at making sure I was gaining good experience at work, always going the extra mile to explain things and lending me books for further reference. He was a learned man with a big heart who never failed to make us smile on a daily basis. Sam was such a character who will never be forgotten.

I will be thinking of his family who he often spoke about and was so very proud of. I will be lighting a candle in his memory. Sam will be missed by many.

I worked with Sam at East Thames Housing Group. The news of Sam passing has been a great shock. He was a kind gentle person. I was one of the three graduate trainees he coached. Sam always adviced me to always be the best that I can. I always referred to him as Uncle Sam. He knew all the best places to eat and took us there during lunchtime and tried to get us to like his taste in music. He was part of our East Thames Family. He will be missed a great deal.

May God keep you safe Sam.

I worked with Sam at Genesis Housing. He was a genuine, kind man with a great work ethic. The news of his passing has saddened me greatly, as this family have had to lose such a great man. My heart goes out to all he held dear, it is a great loss. I pray that his loved ones find some comfort in this time of mourning and know that Sam was admired and will be missed. God bless you all and thank you Sam for being the type of person we all came to know and love.
