In loving memory of Fr Charles Ernest Canning who passed away on 9th April 2017 aged 83 years.

Born in 1933, Fr Canning attended St. Matthew's school in Clubmoor, Liverpool before traing for the priesthood at St Josephs seminary in Upholland. After his ordination in 1959, he served as a curate in St. John's, Kirkdale; St. Mary's, Kirkby; and St. Dominic's, Huyton. He then became Parish Priest at St.Ambrose in Speke and finally St.Oswald's in Warrington. In all, he served the parishioners of these areas of the Liverpool diocese for 50+ years. On retirement, he made his home in St. George's parish, Maghull.

He was held in high esteem by those who knew him, and dearly loved by his family. He will be sadly missed but leaves behind cherished memories.

Fr Canning will be received into Church on Monday 24th April at 7:00pm.

Funeral Mass at St Georges Church, Station Road, Maghull on Tuesday 25th April at 11:00am. Followed by burial at Yew Tree Cemetery at 2:00pm.

I have treasured memories of Ernie as a brother-in-law and as Uncle Ernie and Great Uncle to his neices and nephews. He always tokk a great interest in thre family and its events and his zest for life was infectious. His parting will leave a huge gap in our lives.
