I first met john as my Physics teacher in 1969 and shortly afterwards John was the GSL of the 38th Scouts whilst i was with them, my mother was the cub leader working closely with John. I met John in November last year at my mothers funeral and we shared so many fantastic memories from the scout camps we both attended. RIP John.

Mr Lane has always left a lasting impression of the perfect gentleman. Through my time at Brockington and 38th Leicester scouts his time and energy was second to none. Rest in peace.

I had the honour of being one of the scouting members who attended the funeral today. I didn't personally know John but with being a leader at Enderby I know of his reputation and how well liked and respected he was. That was shown today at his funeral. R I P

A big man with a big heart, also a wonderful teacher who encouraged and got the best out of all the children he taught. He asked me if I would become a cub scout leader and I had many happy years as 'Chil' at the 38th Leicester Cub Scouts. He very kindly took the memorial service at Enderby Church for my dad Eric Newman.
He will be sadly missed but always remembered.
Love and best wishes to all the family.
from Linda Sholl (Newman) Milton Keynes
