In loving memory of Joannah Verna Francis who sadly passed away on 27th April 2017.

Joannah was an incredibly special young lady, who touched the lives of every person she met. A beloved daughter and treasured sister, granddaughter, niece and friend. Her character and her beauty inside and out will be something that stays with us all forever.

We invite you to join us for the funeral on 11th May 2017 at 12:15pm at the Loughborough Crematorium for the service and at The Cedars afterwards to celebrate Joannah’s life.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joannah’s memory will be accepted on the day to go towards giving her the funeral she deserves and the amazing children’s charity, Heartlink, who provided exceptional support and service to Jo throughout her life. To donate online, here's our JustGiving page: www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/inlovingmemoryofJoannah

Though Joannah’s time here feels short, we see each day with her as a true blessing. Having been born with a serious heart defect and met with doctors predictions of two short weeks to live - she enjoyed 32 strong years. She was a fighter and lived her life with positivity, humour and kindness; a pure soul.

Jo was an absolute treasure to be around. From evenings watching gameshows and soaps to holidaying across seaside towns in the UK to resorts in Europe. Caring for pets from hamsters to pugs. Channeling her love of music from strumming the guitar to singing Hey Jude at her 21st. Family parties perfecting her signature dance move, the shoulder shrug. And her undivided attention and appreciation of a good film from Elf to the Merlin series.

Jo had a special bond with the teachers, classmates and friends she made from the Greenacres School, Red Cross, Dorothy Goodman School, Homefield College, Melton College and Creative Workshop. Where she learned basic life skills, took part in arts and crafts, held summer barbecues, won awards and had her first experiences in working life. Weekly she dedicated time to the cutest little sweet shop called Barrow of Treats, and an internet cafe, Sip’n’Surf. Joannah spoke so highly of each person there and never wanted a day off.

There are countless wonderful traits and moments, personal and public, which made Jo the person she was; someone we’ll never forget.

  • Thank you for those lovely words, and for your support these last few months. Joannah loved everyone at Creative Workshop and so enjoyed her time there especially the singing group, so glad I got to hear Debbie sing and Chris of course when I brought Joannah the other week. Thank you everyone for making Joannah's time there so special.

I am going to miss her she was always happy with us at Creative Workshops and had lots of friends. She liked her songs 'I'd do anything' & 'Consider yourself' from Oliver. Today I chose an Oliver song for Joannah for the group to sing in music. Rest in peace from your friend Helen Anderson x

Dear Joannah. I got to know you over 7 years at Homefield College and had so many laughs at Barrow of Treats. You liked to tease me with the goodies you had in your lunchbox and show off your dancing and singing skills but always be there to help out staff and your peers. You will always be a part of the cafe and never forgotten. Rest in peace Joannah, love Kate xx
