John CLAYTON ,who passed away on 15th May 2017, aged 80, was a founder of Allport Freight Limited, a company started in 1963 that grew from humble beginnings in London to become the largest independent freight forwarding company in the UK, employing over 1,000 staff.

John was born in 1936 in Mitcham, Surrey, to parents Jack and Lil Clayton. He is survived by sons Chris and Danny and grandchildren Gaby, Jack, Elliot and Max.

John was known by his family, friends, business partners and work colleagues as a man of utmost integrity, who practised strong values of fairness and respect towards others whilst being an inspirational leader to the many people he met throughout his life. He lived a full life and was very passionate about business, family, politics and sport and bore all of life’s ups and downs with grace and good humour.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

The Funeral will take place at 1.00 pm on Friday 23rd June at Wessex Vale Crematorium.
