Please note that Ed wished for there to be no "funeral clothes" at his funeral - so regular clothes please and lighter colours.

Biography:

Ed was the third of eight siblings; John, Ron, Ed, Doreen, Mike, Albert, Eunice and Dave. He was brought up in Camberwell, south London and was evacuated during the War.

During the War the Luftwaffe assisted the Dillon family in moving to Peckham Rye by destroying the house in Camberwell. Once in Peckham the Dillons were known locally as "The Tribe"!

As the brothers and sisters grew up and married they moved to vari0us parts of Kent and Surrey.

On a holiday in Rome, Italy in 1969 Ed met up with Beverley Neale and afterwards the holiday romance became a full time romance. They married in 1971 and lived for many years in Bexley with Bev's Mum.

Later they too moved to Kent to the house in Twydall where they lived ever since. Although Ed and Bev had no children of their own they became like second parents to generations of godchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Ed had a number of passions; chief of which (apart from Bev) was gardening - he loved to visit a garden and his own garden was always a joy to behold. Ed and Bev loved travelling and have been to many parts of the world.

Ed had a passion for music and had wide ranging musical tastes from classical through trad jazz to Shirley Bassey and modern pop singers.

Ed (and Bev) were also keen indoor bowlers and competed at club, national and international levels.

Although Ed had been living with cancer for some years it was only earlier this year that it began to take hold and in the end a series of strokes took him from us.

Everyone who has ever known or encountered Ed will know he was the kindest, gentlest and most genial of souls and he will be tremendously missed by all.
