In loving memory of Michael Freeman who sadly passed away on 8th November 2017 after a brief unexpected illness, aged 77.

Michael was a loving husband to Jeanne; a caring father to Anthony and Samanta and a doting Papy to Joe and Louis. He notched up over 30 years service to the NHS principally at Horton Hospital Epsom where he worked as the Director of Nursing Services before his retirement.

In retirement he and Jeanne travelled widely around Europe in their Winnebago. His restricted mobility rarely held them back and using a powerchair certainly didn't stop him from hopping onto the water taxis in Venice.

Laterly he was a familiar figure in Epsom town centre on his powerchair doing his daily shop.

He enjoyed getting out and about, looking forward, getting things done and being there for his loved ones and that is how we will remember him.

As per his wishes Michael is having a private woodland burial. No flowers please but condolences and donations to the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) welcomed.

Thank you.

WHERE'S DAD?
He must be in the toilet
He must be down the town
He must be on the stairs
Climbing slowly down
He must be in the garden
He must be doing stuff
But though we wait and wait again
You never do turn up.
But we’ll find you in the big clogs
That sit by the back door
And - in the kitchen
You worked so hard to build before
You’re in the two sheds in the garden
In every little part
That reminds us that you’ve been here
That you’ve lived and left your mark
You’re sown in our environment
In our very DNA
Though you’re no longer here Dad
You’re with us every day.

SBF - Nov 2017

I finished the temporary wooden plaque for Dad today. Vince collected the piece of wood from a local woodland a few weeks ago and it looked just right for the job. I have enjoyed trying my hand at pyrography x x love u Dad x x
