In loving memory of Walter Burrows who sadly passed away on 21st November 2017.
My Dad was the kindest, most generous man you could ever meet but then you all know that.
He loved people, all people, and his warmth and humour ensured that people loved him back.
He wasn't particularly ambitious, he lead a simple life.
He worked hard and laughed often.
He was passionate about his family, his business and freemasonry.
He enjoyed riding his motor bike (into his late 70s!)
He loved playing snooker and cards at his club.
He enjoyed holidays in Cyprus (same hotel with the same friends)
He often told stories, never letting the truth get in the way of a good tale.
He liked tending his Koi Carp, growing tomatoes and listening to Tony Hancock.
An ordinary life but not an ordinary man.
An extraordinary man who touched the life of all he met.
Remembered by everyone, from the car wash guy in the Town Hall Car Park to the family who held him so close, as a true gentleman.
People often use the phrase "being a Wally" in a derogatory way but for me it is a huge compliment.
If we could be just a little like our "Wally", my Dad, we could be better people.

A poem I have written and shared for my wonderful Grandad. You will be so missed. We all loved you very much.

Our Grandad

We had a wonderful Grandad,
One who never really grew old.
His smile was made of sunshine
And his heart was solid gold.

The stories he would tell us,
Put smiles upon our face.
You may no longer be here with us
But in our hearts you hold a place.

You are now at peace,
Your soul’s at rest.
Though we may cry now
For with your love we were so blessed.

We remember you now in love,
Your life from start to end,
And we’re just glad we knew you,
As Grandad and as Friend.
