In loving memory of Donald (Don) Wood who sadly passed away in Braintree Community Hospital on 3rd December 2017 aged 88 years. A loving Brother, Dad, and Grandad he will sorely missed by both family and friends.

Don was born and spent his childhood in Epping, before enlisting in the Royal Navy at the age of 17 in 1946, completing his 2 months Seamanship training at HMS Excalibur in Alsager, Staffordshire, before moving to HMS Kestrel in Winchester for his 6 months Air Mechanics training.

Don continued to serve in the Royal Navy for the next 22 years, finally being demobbed in February 1969.

In 1967, Don married Margaret who was to be his wife for the next 35 years, until she was taken from us too early in 2002.

After leaving the Royal Navy, Don joined Aviation Traders engineering as an Aircraft fitter at Stansted Airport where he stayed until the mid 1990's before taking redundancy and working locally in Braintree before finally retiring in 2005.

Dad,
The time has come to say good bye in person, but not in spirit. You have been there for me throughout the highs and lows, never judging, but guiding and ,making me the person I am today, and for that I will be forever thankful.
You will always be in our hearts and thoughts, and we will miss you dearly always.
Now the pain has gone and you can rest in peace.

Dad - you taught me so much. You taught me to work hard, respect others get the most from life, be tidy and drink lots of alcohol!! amongst many other things

15 years ago when we suddenly lost dear Mum we started to talk to each other and spend time together and we have had some amazing time and weekends away which I will cherish forever, they were so much of a laugh.

After a challenging two years you are at peace now i will miss you massively but will never forgot you. Love you Dad Gav, Debs, Emma and Evie (thanks for letting me out for a wee granddad everyday -says Evie) xxxx

RIP
