Thanks for the memories Shirley, what a special caring ,no fuss lady you were too
We had some great times when you came to Australia for the first time .From day one I felt as if we had know each other for years .
Having the odd Vodka and having many a laugh
The kids soon worked out if they wanted anything Nanny Shirley could make it happen,
"Missy the cat" that they were never allowed!
When we go to Victor it gives us such a warm feeling knowing how much you loved it there.
Then the memories we have of coming to you ...The girls dying there hair and it going all up the walls of your newly decorated bathroom , i was horrified and you just were happy with the memory they had left you haha .such a special lady that will be greatly missed ..See you in our dreams Shirley 😚

Nanny what a special caring, loving and funny person you are. I was very lucky to have lived with you while I was on a working/traveling holiday when I was younger. You welcomed me into your home and made me feel like it was mine own. We shared many happy times together. I remember when I was working you would stay
up late until I got home just to make a cup of tea or a vodka and we would sit and talk for hours.
I miss your infectious laugh. I wish we lived closer to you and not half way across the world but I am so thankful for the times I had with you.
I hope you are at peace now and can now enjoy some time with uncle Dan. I will see you again. Love you Nan always xxx

Nanny Shirley you were certainly one in a million! You had the most mischievous smile and infectious laugh. I will always remember your love of shopping especially for shoes! Lets not forget Missy the cat that drove us all nuts for years........ Sarah wanted her and you being you said 'well then Sarah shall have her'. We may not have had alot of time spent together but my heart is full of memories and I will cherish them forever. Rest easy now Nan with all our love xxxxxxx

I feel so privalliged that I got to spend some time with you only a couple of years ago. Some times living on the other side of the world can be tough when you can't be as close to the ones you love. None the less, when I visited, you made it as if no time had passed at all.
You were warm, welcoming and made me more cups of tea than I have ever drunk in my life :)

Life isn't always Sunshine's and lollipops but we have to ride the wave regardless.
You will always be thought of, with the fondest of memories.

Rest easy now Nanny, we will meet again one day to share another cup of tea.

Love Sarah

I remember my first meeting with Shirley. It was at Taunton Vale, She was tall with her beautiful red hair and so good looking. One of my earliest memories of Shirley was she came to Whitehill School on open day. I had never had anyone come to see my work before and I can remember how I felt to this day when I saw her walk into the room, I felt so proud.
Sometimes after school she would be at home with a sandwich made for me. You have no idea how special that made me feel.
I can never remember Shirley being in a bad mood or angry, she just handled whatever happened in a calm way.
I remember her Moped bike that she loved to get around on.
I have never heard anyone say a bad word against Shirley. She was just such a lovely person.
Shirley I hope that in Heaven you are able to feel the love that we all had for you. Rest in Peace you beautiful soul. xxx

I can still remember the first time we met you. It was on a Sunday morning, Pauline and I were still in bed. You came into our bedroom and introduced yourself as our new sister-in-law. You had the brightest red hair I had ever seen. You kept it in place with a royal blue headband. You had lovely white skin with so many freckles. You were so friendly we had never seen anyone like you. You outgrew your freckles as you had more children. As we grew older you used to babysit my children. We used to take your boys down to Clarence Place to give you a break once in a while. They were right little buggers. You always had the patience of a saint with them. Good job you had a girl in the mix, another boy could have left to you nuts. Your children never wanted for anything. With Dan working away so much the child rearing was left to you. You Sunday teas were always such a treat. Jellies, jam tarts and all the little treats you could muster. I remember when Dan got a Doberman dog for the kids. This dog nearly drove you crazy. You tested the sisterhood and got us to look after it while Dan was away. Bloody thing bit a hole in our sofa. Thank goodness Dan got bored with it and got it a new home. I remember when we went to the tenents club to see a male stripper. What a laugh we had. I think we invented the full monty. When it was over you said you didn't know what all the fuss was about. Anyone that ever knew you, all the family and friends loved you. I have so many good memories to treasure.
rest in Peace our dear sister. We will love you forever.
Miriam
