In loving memory of Joan Chadd who sadly passed away on 6th January 2018, the family are having a wake to celebrate Joan's life after the service at Gilrose. The wake is at The Blackbird Pub (sizzlers) on Anstey Lane. We would like you to come and join us and to share memories of our mum with us.

Well goodbye Joan, I am so proud and happy to have known you even for the relatively short time. You will be very badly missed by so many people. You are so many things to so many. Supporter, teacher, leader, friend, confidante to name just a few. I was so grateful for your dedicated support in the years that I was lucky enough to have you to hear readers in my class. You selflessly gave so much time to so many children and so many have so much to be grateful to you for. Thank you. You were always happy to help others and support the school. I remember your help on our school trips and outings. I really enjoyed your company on these trips and oh yes the sports festivals that you kindly helped on. I always considered you to be a friend. You were always such a strong and sensitive person who could always say the right thing to help comfort others and make people feel better. At the same time you weren't afraid to speak your mind and stand up for what you believed in. Such a great person I hope there is a better place that you are in now. God Bless xx ❤️ Meg

I remember many Health and Safety walks around the school. This may not seem like fun but they often were and we had a good laugh. You were always friendly and kind - you will be greatly missed. Xx

Joan you were a wonderful lady who made people feel at ease. I could always talk to you about anything whether as a school governor or as a friend and you always made things seem so much better. Honest and true is how I will remember you.
Love Ayshea

I remember when we went London for the day and you were being grandma. It was a funny day as you didn't like how people were looking and walking so you would shout/talk really loudly how you felt. It was so funny but even funnier that we made dad stand next to you. Only you grandma would see one shop in Covent Garden called Pollocks and shout what we were all thinking 😄 even you laughed when you realised it was really quiet there. Will definitely miss those fun times.
Love you grandma 💖

Been reminiscing on the old times and found myself smiling on the memories. From digging out the Sylvanian families for me to play with, your dancing/singing fish on the kitchen wall, watching ice age 1 million times and looking forward to our 'mcgrandmas' you would make us (chicken nuggets and chips 😂) just a few of the many memories I'll hold with me always. I love you grandma ❤❤❤

  • I think mum was the most excited, especially as she got us gifts we didn't know about and seeing our faces when we all opened our presents.
