Linda Kimberley (18 Jul 1944 - 3 Jan 2018)

In loving memory of Linda Amy Kimberley who sadly passed away on 3rd January 2018

On the 18th July 1944 Linda Amy Clark was born in Shirebrook, Derbyshire one of four children born to George and Amy Clark. In 1955 the family moved to Warsop in Nottinghamshire, and during the early months of 1956 Linda met her future husband to be, at a friends party. Linda married Brian in October 1963, and became Mrs Linda Amy Kimberley. The start of a wonderful, challenging and adventurous lifetime for the couple and their family.

On leaving secondary school at 15 years of age Linda completed a full time secretarial course at West Notts College Mansfield, and also attended night classes to supplement proficiency in shorthand and typing. She started her employment in the treasury department of Mansfield council, then later joined Sooby and Eastgate estate agents were she worked until the birth of her first child in October 1966. A second child was born in August 1968 and the third arrived in April 1973. In the December of that same year the family moved to Zambia in central Africa and remained for four magical years before returning to Nottinghamshire in 1978.

Linda loved to travel and over the next twenty years when circumstances permitted she visited the USA, Egypt, India, Spain, Malta, Cyprus, Portugal as well as many regions of the United Kingdom. Family holidays were some of the best and most memorable occasions.

During the Autumn of 1999 Linda's health deteriorated rapidly and after many visits to the hospital she was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (S.L.E), an incurable disease of the immune system. She was immediately admitted to hospital and spent Christmas as well as the millennium celebrations on intensive treatment to stabilise her condition. From this moment onwards Linda's life changed. Her physical capacity and range of capability were gradually eroded and yet her love of life and determination never faulted. She focused on the charity Lupus UK and over the years became a local ambassador for their cause raising funds from knitting as well as distributing information at local charity events and hospital open days. She loved knitting and had 95 % completed a baby cardigan on the day she passed away.

Linda enjoyed her garden and the wild life that visited to feed and bring their young. Being a lover of animals she had several dogs for company for most of her life. In the twilight of this journey two stray cats were adopted, loved and cherished.

Linda was a proud and loving wife, mother of three children and grandmother(nan) to ten special children. She revelled in the achievements of her nearest and dearest and offered her active support whenever she could. She fought long and hard against every setback that her body imposed upon her, but sadly you will never win every one. Her family was the love and pride of her life.
