I will be thinking of my grandad today and the rest of my family on the day of his funeral as I am unfortunately unable to attend.

He was a loving and caring grandparent who loved doing everything he could for myself, my brother and my cousins. I will always remember him as someone who didn't want to make a fuss about anything and someone who always wanted to help even when it was physically difficult for him such as when I used to look after the garden or fix my bike or car out the front.

I wish I am lucky enough to live as long as he did and be as healthy as he was was at such an extraordinary age of 95. I will thoroughly miss him and am so happy to have him as part of my life

I have know Mr Tyrer (Harry) as long as I have know Allan (Tug) which is now some 54 years since he joined us at Rainham Boys school. During my many visits to see Tug, Mr and Mrs Tyrer were always welcoming and kind hosts. Harry then joined our crowd at Gills games and was always the voice of experienced reason amongst our youthful enthusiasm and sometimes anger. I was a regular customer of Harry's at his many greengrocer shops and he always did me "a deal" on some fruit and vegetables. Harry will be sadly missed and my families thoughts go out to my old dear mate and all his family, particularly Paul and Neil. I shall be proud to attend the funeral on the 27th.
