In loving memory of Nigel Ian Thompson who suddenly left us on 14th February 2018.

Nige was from a big family, but as many of you already know this extended to the Autograss racing community where many people were touched by Nige and would always end up in a deal with him and rather than a handshake it was to the beer tent to settle it with a pint.

At the age of 15 Nige got a job with Smiths Of Scotter, he started as a tea boy and with hard work, dedication and true commitment he became a company director at the young age of 40.

Whilst Nige was hard working he was a typical male and a pretty young girl had caught his eye in 1985. It was then he met Sue, and they both worked hard and a surprise came along called Russ, and then came along Shaun. But the family still wasn't complete. A timid border collie called Nell came along and easily fitted into the family but it still wasn't complete it wasn't until Joe Dog came along that the Thompson family was whole.

In his early teens Nige started Banger racing, which has been where the passion for cars truly started. He then went onto Autograss racing and the passion grew. In 1999 Nige became the Chairman to SDMSC. The racing community was like another family to Nige. And when Russ and Shaun reached 12 years old they finally could race just like their Dad but actually make it round the first corner without either crashing or blowing the cars up.

If there was something that everyone knew about Nige was that he was passionate about SDMSC, his two boys and of course Oliver.

The sudden loss of Nige has impacted not only to close family but his close friends, his work family, his family from the Black Horse in the Thompson naughty corner, the racing family, and everyone that had bought or sold something to Nige. It is unimaginable to think how many people has been privileged to be in this mans company.

In Nige's memory we will be collecting donations at Gainsborough Town Hall. It has been a difficult decision to chose what charity as Nige helped anyone or anything and was always generous towards charities. That being said the Autograss All Stars have touched a place in Nige's heart so we will be collecting for Cancer Research UK. There will be another charity to gain from this generous man, and that is SuperShoes, Nige wanted this years SDMSC BAS round to collect for this amazing charity.

Please feel free to add pictures with Nige and also please share you're memories as we would love to hear them on this page.

I remember the day Nige came to Smiths on work experience. Little did we all know what an impact you would have on life during your sadly short but amazingly full life. Nige was always willing to help anyone. What a loss.

What a top, top man. So many memories(very few sober, but all amazing). Not just a great chairman but a quality friend, who would do anything for anyone, he just "cracked on" and SDMSC as well as the world will not be the same without you. So greatful for everything you did for me, and for knowing such an amazing bloke.

See you again pal, although I'm sure your response will be "I didn't see you there" x
