Following a long and courageous battle with cancer, Fred passed away peacefully in his sleep at Heathlands Care Home Chingford Hatch in the early hours of Saturday 3rd March 2018.

A service to remember and celebrate his life will be held at 12 noon on Thursday 5th April 2018 at Forest Park Crematorium Hainult; followed by refreshments at Chingford Cricket Club, off Kimberley Way, E4 6DE, from 2pm

It was Fred's wish that friends and family gathering together to remember and celebrate his life do not wear black, or send flowers. Alternatively, please make donations to support the wonderful work at The Margarets Centre at Whipps Cross Hospital, where staff supported Fred and Peggie through the most difficult of times. You can do this via the website bartscharity.org.uk - enter your donation and this will take you to another page where you can fill in The Margaret Centre to benefit and in memory of Frederick Wood.

Our thanks to family, friends, medical staff and carers whose compassion, love and support was a great source of strength.

Fred, you will be sadly missed, and always be in my fond memories.
You were an absolute gentleman, kind and very funny, and I don’t ever remember hearing a complaint from you.

The courage and bravery with which you faced your health battles were truly dignified.

We will miss your quiet funny asides, and your gentle humour.
You were like a gentle breeze on a warm summer day.

Rest well, and deepest condolences to Peg from Joe & Janey.

I had known you since we were buddies at the age roughly of eighteen. You were a good mate and we had some fun times even though we may have drifted apart when we both married. Anyway, you were a good all round egg and it had been my/Lesly’s privilege to know you and Paggie. Good night my friend.
