Dear Crabtree family, Dear John, you might remember me, my name is Peter Hemmerle and I am a so called nephew of the Heiting family. I remember so well how everybody was shocked that "Kätchen" how we used to call her, left for England never to return. She found you John and became very happy in England. Kätchen organized that I spent a summer vacation with your parents in Ashtead and later in Crediton and we used to visit you at the Dart Marina Hotel over the weekend. I was 16 years old, and David a very young boy!..wonderful memories! I had known Kätchen all my life and just loved her humor and her being down to earth... a typical girl from Cologne! It is a great loss for you and Ruth from Emmerich and I will never forget her. It would be very nice of you, John, if you could get in contact with me, when you feel like talking and inform Ruth and me about the circumstances of Kätchens death. Best wishes to the whole family and especially to you John!
Yours Peter Hemmerle and Ruth Behr

Dear John and dear family,
you will remember me, John, I was a so called nephew of Tante Liesl in Elten, Germany.. When I was a young boy I spent a summer vacation with your parents in Ashtead and later in Crediton and your parents and me used to visit you at the Dart Marina Hotel over the weekends. I have photos with David being a very small boy...Nice memories! Also Ruth from Emmerich sends her Sympathy and we are very sad that Kätchen passed away. We will never forget her! A big loss...Kätchen was such an open minded and humorous, down to earth person...typical for a girl from Cologne! I hope we can get in contact some time , when you feel like talking and inform Ruth and myself wether Kätchen died in peace!? Ruth and I are with you awn our thoughts and wish your family and especially you John all our best!!

I love you Granny. I have so many wonderful memories of you: the time you walked me back from summer school, my ice-cream fell on the floor; the time you told me Jessie was watching over us, and when you always pushed me on the swing. I will always remember these wonderful memories ( yes I count dropping my ice-cream on the floor). love you forever
Sophie xoxo
