In loving memory of Philip Trout who passed away very suddenly on 28th February 2018.

Phil's family would like to take this opportunity to personally thank you for all of the the love and respect that you have shown Phil over the years. In his memory we ask that donations are made to the charity MIND a charity that was close to Phil's heart.

MIND works tirelessly to make sure everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets both support and respect. Every year, one in four people will experience a mental health problem and no one should have to face a mental health problem alone. Mind supports millions of people every year through their helpline, information services and online communities and also has a network of local Minds providing face to face services tailored to communities across England and Wales.

We believe that everybody experiencing a mental health problem should be empowered to make their own choices about their treatment and recovery, be able to access the services they need and should be treated fairly, positively and with respect.

Phil supported many disadvantaged and vulnerable adults through his work with the Salvation Army, both at The Well in Croydon and more recently with the homeless community in Brighton. Our loss is hard to bare and Phil has gone too soon but we know that he is finally at peace and will live on in our hearts and in our memories for all eternity.

Looking back, I think I first met Phil at one of the many famous Trout barbecues where he always brought wonderful food. It was only then that I was advised that he was an ex chef.
The celebration service held at the citadel earlier this month was a credit to all that took part. I particularly wanted to mention the part that the Salvation Army played in this including people who travelled in from far and wide. Your flowers Susan were absolutely stunning, you have such a talent. I also wanted to commend Katie for her very personal unusual arrangement of flowers and also for her moving, personal and uplifting reading. I was not at the crematorium but heard that Jessica did her father proud, supported by her brother Joshua. Beryl discharged herself from hospital to ensure that she was there to play her part - doesn’t that say something when people go above and beyond to do that!
It was lovely to see all the various photos of Phil at the wake especially him with the family and his beloved children.
Finally the wake. The music was so Phil, a great selection that I could have listened to all day. The final piece - Layla, what a song to finish with!

Lots of love to you all xx

we might have been apart, but every time we saw each other we said we loved each other, and how proud we were of Jess and Josh, my life seems so empty now, but I promised Phil I would always look after the kids, and I will, our song Phil, Everything I do I do it for you, forever

A wonderful person, father, son, brother, friend and a hero has unfortunately crossed over, leaving a void in hearts but with some wonderful memories to bring a smile to your face.
Hero: If it wasn't for Phil, we may not have any family businesses left at all. For during those terrible riots in 2011 he warned us these rioters were on their way to Reeves Corner, and with that we were able to be there to at least protect part of the shop as watching the other burn to the ground. So we thank you Phil, from the bottom of our hearts your our hero and a friend. I believe that you are with friends and family passed now so enjoy. As to friends and family I pray your hearts will be enlightened for having him in your life for the time he was here. Heartfelt sympathies from Trevor, Annette and Family x
