In loving memory of Lesley Jones who sadly passed away on 20th May 2018.

Lesley Jane Jones was a loving wife and Mum to her husband Chris, and their three sons, Sam, Brad & Matt.

Lesley was born Lesley O’Brien in Basildon, Essex in October 1963: and was lovingly brought up by her mother, Barbara and Barbara’s second husband, Brian Hills, and hence changed her name to Lesley Hills after her 18th birthday. Lesley had a very happy childhood, living in various homes around Chelmsford, Broomfield and Little Waltham, each carefully renovated by her “father” Brian.

She met her husband to be, Chris, in 1984, and married in 1987, living briefly in their first marital home, a delightful terraced Victorian school house in Broomfield, before moving in 1990 to their present family home in Ford End.
There she worked hard over many years to renovate the house, which dated back before 1788, at the same time lovingly nurturing a family of three boys, including the shock arrival of twins, Sam & Brad, in 1991, followed by Matt in 1997.

She enjoyed nearly 30 years of marriage to Chris before her diagnosis with breast cancer in June 2017. After bravely battling through treatment until February 2018, she was determined to put it behind her, and to start living every day to the fullest, with plans for holidays, and hoping for a fulfilling life with the possibility of grandchildren in future years.

So it was a great shock to be told that the breast cancer had returned in April, and had spread to her lungs and bones. Tragically, it returned more aggressively than before, and after a brief stay in hospital, she came home on Friday 11th May, and passsed away peacefully with her family beside her, in the early hours of Sunday 20th May.

She was loved by so many, and will leave a big hole in the lives of her family and all her friends.

After cremation, her ashes will be laid to rest with her Mum & Dad in Great Waltham churchyard,

Her funeral on Monday 25th June, will begin with a private committal at Chelmsford crematorium, attended by immediate family and close friends, followed by a celebration of her life in her local parish church of St John the Evangelist, Ford End at 2:15pm, to which all are welcome, and afterwards at The Courtyard Suite, Little Channels, off Essex Regiment Way, Chelmsford.

Family flowers only please. Charitable donations for Helen Rollason Cancer Charity, in memory of Lesley, can be sent directly to the Funeral Directors, Chelmsford Star Coopeartive, Broomfield Road, Chelmsford, or online at the attached JustGiving page.

A saying I like is” it’s not how long you shine for but how bright you shine”, Lesley shone bright and continues to do so via a wonderful family she leave behind.

I've known you since we were 11 at Rainsford. We've shared many laughs, giggles and tears and done some daft things. You've been a 'non bio Mum' to my children and an inspiration to me.
Such a practical and homely person creating a wonderful 'nest' for your brood with a gift of sharing friendships with so many people bringing happiness and laughter.
You will leave a huge hole in so many lives but you will continue to be in our hearts.
Thank you for being a friend.
Dawn, Roger, Luke, Charlotte, Jess and Mrs T xx
