In loving memory of Elizabeth Addison who sadly passed away on 14th June 2018.
Elizabeth Ann Smith born in 21/10/47 Buckie. Her parents John Alexander Smith ,Georgina Smith and brother Brian Smith. Ann attended Buckie Primary and High School.

Ann met and married George Cowie at South Church, Buckie in March 1965. Angela was born in July that year. Ann worked as a trainee dispenser with Boots the Chemist in Elgin which she gave up When she had her family.

The family moved from Buckie to Edinburgh in 1967. Tragically, later that year Ann and Brian lost their father suddenly.

Ann gave birth to Allan in 1970 and later began to work as an auxiliary at Leith hospital. Ann’s love of caring for people began as later in life she completed her nursing training as an enrolled nurse.

The family attended Pilrig church where both George and Ann were active members.

Ann separated from George in 1979. She moved around and eventually settled in Morningside where she also worked at the Astley Ainslie Hospital for many years.

Ann met and married John Addison in 1990 but then marriage ended in 2000.

Ann began her long battle with depression and anxiety in 2000. She moved in with Kenny and Angie whilst her mental health deteriorated. Unfortunately it came to stay, taking over her life and virtually making her a prisoner in her own home.

Mum had a package of care and enjoyed the company of people when they arrived to attend to her. Other health professionals tried to engage with Ann but unfortunately she did not want to participate.

Ann kept her faith throughout the years. She attended church and underwent training courses so she could help others. Laterally she attended and volunteered in her local church at Westerhailes.

Ann’s mobility grew worse and anything physical was a huge effort. Ann was in hospital the week before her passing and she spoke very highly of the staff at the Eri.

Ann died suddenly at home on Thurs 24th of June, 2018.
