In loving memory of Joan Gertrude Green who sadly passed away on 1st July 2018 aged 94 years.
Widow of Charles Norman Green, Mother of late son Michael Green, Daughter Cynthia Tysall, Sons Keith & Ivor Green.
As a young girl Joan spent many a long hour at her father's allotment in Handsworth Birmingham (her holiday as she called it). Her Father a milkman with a horse drawn cart.
Stories of her hurrying to feed the chicks their feed which was too hot and the chicks being found upside down with their little feet sticking up in the air by her Father.
Joan's Father passed at an early age and Joan's Mother was a hard working lady and worked hard to keep her family together on her own.
When pinching her Brother's bottle of milk, Joan ran off only to fall over and smash it cutting her arm.
Joan was always into mischief.
It was in Handsworth where she met her true love Norman a butchers boy.
Norman being the prankster played many jokes on Joan.
Whilst courting Norman, had put a real Bull's eye ball into a bag of marsh mellows and offered Joan one. Walking under the light of the lamppost Joan soon discovered it was indeed an eye ball. You can only imagine the shrieks.
They got on like a house on fire and after several months courting they were married.
Norman was drafted in to the RAF Bomber Squadron to fight for his country in the second world war.
A Rear Gunner having survived many raids on the Dam, Driesden, The Turpitts and many more he returned home safely.
Joan of course like many other women was doing her bit for the War effort in a Munitions' factory making bullets and was reunited with Norman when he returned home safely from RAF Lossimouth.
She moved to Shard End where she raised her family in a cramped maisonette until she was given a new property on a the then new estate of Chelmsley Wood where she had live for almost 50 years.
Joan made many friends, Pat & Ivor, Jenny & John, Pauline and Eileen to name a few. All of whom were great friends and visited her regularly for a cuppa & a chat, planning the next street party.
She loved a good get together.
Joan's Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren all grew up making friends for life with the neighbour's families, cos that's how it was back then.
A loving Mom, Nan, Great Grandma,Great, Great Grandma, Aunty and Great Aunty that loved all of her family.
Sharing her passion of Caravan holidays she often took many of her Grandchildren with her.
One of her favourite places was Little Lakes holiday park the other side of Bewdley Worcestershire.
Joan loved her dogs too Chan, Becky, Charlie and Timmy.
Widowed at the age of 82years her health slowly deteriorated but she never gave up.
Having many illnesses and hospital admissions Joan always bounced back.
Joan eventually lost her sight but even that didn't stop her, she was always there to talk to and support you.
Joan will be dearly missed by all of her family in the Uk, Africa, Australia and New Zealand and all of her Friends in the Uk, Canada and Australia.
Joan may you rest in peace and be reunited with your true love Norman.

Nan. We will and do miss you so much.
I was delighted to introduce Ashura and Kaeden to you last year. Sadly we didn't have time to introduce our daughter Charlotte to you. But we know that you and Grandad will be looking at them from wherever you are.
We will make sure that you both live on in all of us.
Sleep in peace. Our Beautiful Angel.
Forever in our hearts and souls.
Paul. Ashura. Jordan. Kaelie and family. Braiden. Kaeden and baby Charlotte .
P.S.
Please put the kettle on yourself and let Grandad rest!
