Janice Eileen Clarke died, unexpectedly but peacefully, at home on 10th July 2018, probably watching her beloved Wimbledon. Janice grew up in Leamington Spa in Milverton Terrace, and attended Leamington College for Girls where she made many friends and maintained those friendships for over 70 years. She was a keen Guide and later a Sea Ranger.

After school she trained as a teacher at Brighton College and then moved to Cambridge to teach. It is said of her that her happiest and most fulfilled years were those spent in Cambridge teaching. She loved East Anglia and especially Norfolk where she returned many times.

She returned to Leamington when her father died and became her mother's companion, later nursing her, with love and devotion, through her last illness. From 1967 she taught in the Junior School of Kingsley School and supervised the move from Beauchamp Hall to houses over the road. There will be many who remember her influence on their then young lives. She retired from full time teaching in 1989 but went on to teach swimming at Wroxall Abbey school.

Janice was a great lover of animals, particularly of her succession of dogs: Lady , Susie and Maggie.. In the last few years she has greatly missed their companionship, and was an active supporter of animal charities as well as human ones. Janice was a Christian, coming to faith through the Girl Guide movement, and here in Leamington she has been a long time member of St Mark's church. She was a great reader, particularly of crime novels and at the time of her death was rereading the Donna Leon series of books.

Janice was a lovely lady, with her heart in the right place, who cared deeply for her many friends and loved God.
