Stephen Audsley (Passed away 4 Sep 2018)

Steve as he was know to those of us who worked with him in The Pension Service, Swansea, was a delight to know. Full of knowledge and character, with a wicked sense of humour. He was pleased to be moving back closer to family following his retirement and joining in with a local book club and meeting people with similar interests of the art and theatre world. RIP Steve x

Such sad news of Mickey's passing, Great Uncle to me and Luke and Great Great Uncle to my children Phoebe and Tobias. He truly was a remarkable man, I have many childhood memories of Christmas, New Years, summer holidays and trundles in the Welsh countryside with him. Mickey wasn't one to 'show off' his artistic side with us and upon his passing I have been able to truly appreciate his love of art and history. I can safely say he was one of the most intelligent people I've had the pleasure of knowing, he always won at Trivial Pursuit, even when the whole family played as a team against him! He touched many lives and will be sadly missed. God Bless Mickey xxx

Steve was a very talented artist ,lifelong loyal friend, intelligent with an infectious sense of humour
and very generous too. May he find peace now.

The picture of Stephen above was taken on a day out to Weston Super Mare, he had a paddle in the sea which he loved and his boyish grin showed his delight. He also watched Phoebe and Toby ride on the donkeys and we all enjoyed ice creams on the promenade.

He always enjoyed time spent with his sister Rita, my Mother, when we used to go on "trundles" (taking your time in travelling around the country lanes) around the Welsh countryside and sometimes then spend some time on a beach for a paddle or swim, my particular favourite memory was at Angle Bay, the tide was coming in over the warm sand and the sea was so warm.

As mentioned above Stephen was known to the family as Mickey and he will always be affectionately remembered by that name together with his Mum and Dad, Arthur and Muriel and his Sister Rita.

Everyday things in life meant a lot to Mickey and when my Brother Andrew and I looked at his Memory Box where he kept letters, cards, newspaper cuttings and photographs etc it meant a lot to us.

Andrew and I look forward to meeting and sharing memories with you.

Known to me as Steve, we met decades ago in an art class in Reading. I grew to respect, like and become fond of this modest, humble, knowledgeable and humorous man. We accompanied each other to art exhibitions and shared many interests, so kept in touch, and met up in Swansea when he moved
there. We met in Swindon, but poor health recently has prevented me visiting. I shall miss Steve very much. He was a dear, good friend, and a very special man.

To many you are Stephen, to us you are Mickey, this is all we have ever known you as.
Dearest Mickey, you are unique. They broke the mould when they made you. The complexity which is you has so often been underestimated or simply not understood. We love you dearly for your slightly eccentric ways. A lovely lady we met only after your passing said how she could see an aura about you. This is the way you affected everyone who got to know you. You have left a hole on this Earth which cannot be filled. We love you, and hope and pray a little of you will live on forever with us.

Affectionately known as Mickey, Stephen passed away at the Great Western Hospital on Tuesday fourth of September. The funeral will be held at Kingsdown chapel at 11:15 on Wednesday third of October burial service at 12 noon thereafter. Please leave a message if you are able to attend . We look forward to sharing memories with you of time spent together.
