In loving memory of David Jonathan Jukes who sadly passed away on 9th October 2018.
Dave was a proud man who served his country with pride. He fought his demons from his time in the Army and his childhood for most of his life, and all he ever wanted was to be part of a family, be understood and accepted. He was failed by the mental health services because he tried so hard to get past and deal with his demons, but they always won.
The day he passed away, he had (unknowingly to me) arranged to have a tattoo inscribed with the words: Only God can judge my flaws, but only I know the love I have for my wife Jo, and my daughters Chloe and Kayleigh. This summed him up.
People who knew him knew what kind of man he was and could see past his flaws, those who didn't know him very well will say negative things, but that is between them and God to reconcile and to consider how they also had a part to play. Very few people knew the real Dave. I was his advocate, his defender, his wife and his champion and although he was the hardest man in the world to love, he was deeply committed to his marriage and our family. Only I, and the people closest to him, knew the Dave that was trapped inside, the one who existed to the outside world.
He will leave a hole in our family and our lives forever and I hope that his memory will either teach people lessons or impact on those who are also suffering from PTSD.
The Church service is a service of Thanksgiving for Dave’s life and is open to people who wish to show their respects, as is the Wake. However, the Cremation is a private ceremony for those closest to him to say their final goodbyes in privacy. Please note that parking at the Church is limited, but you can park on Ridgacre road and surrounding rounds near the roundabout.

In the short time I knew you after getting back in touch I was proud to be called your uncle again. We spent time talking and you explained things to me that even hurt me. I trusted you and loved you David and hope you are at peace now love always mate

Dave for the short time we had together as brothers in arms, we clicked and had a great time, distance kept us from seeing each other more often but we bonded,

I'm so proud of the achievements that you reached in your short life and the love that you found with your wife Jo and family. Although there was year's that we didn't keep in touch but you never left my heart. Our last visit together will stay with me until we see one another on the other side.
