In loving memory of Anthony Bill Green who sadly passed away on 7th October 2018 and was born in Nottingham on 29 Mar 1941.
He lived in Nottingham until the family, along with his sister, Pat, moved to Libya in 1955 in Benghazi and they moved back in 1957 after his father's work finished there.
He had various occupations - clerk for Simon May and Co. in the Lace Market 1958, working for the GPO in 1959 as a counter clerk, originally at Kirby in Ashfield and then to Nottingham and then he joined the Nottingham City Police in about 1962 - 1974.
From 6 Mar 1974 - 30 June 1994 he took and ran the New Market in the centre of Nottingham and was a very popular landlord with many folk because of his personality and sense of humour. During that period he married his second wife and they had Philip, his only child.
In 1994- Sep 1998 after the end of his tenancy at the New Market ,he moved to the Britannia Pub and and subsequently married Gill...but he was here only a few years as the pub was scheduled for demolition, I think. During this period he married Gill in 1996 in Gibraltar.
After leaving the pub he took some jobs with an agency - mainly night-watchmen on building sites and on housing estate building sites before securing a job as commissionaire and later building manager at Byron House on Derby Road, Nottingham. He worked until he was 68 and would have continued longer...but I put my foot down... I wanted him at home with me!
We enjoyed living in two places... Gotham and Gibraltar for many years until his very sad death.... He leaves his son, Philip, his sister Pat, me and many others more than sad at his passing.

Such an absolutely amazing character, full of fun. Oh Tony, still makes me smile when you took me home after nights on that old motorbike and the “Meths Hounds” at Bath Street. You brought joy to all around you and it was my pleasure to work with you. RIP Dodger.
