With such a cruel twist of fate, we lost Oliver (Vic) Vickers on 3rd December, at the Royal Derby Hospital, just twenty seven hours after the passing of his beloved wife of 56 years, Jean, mother of their seven children, they also leave eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Oliver grew up in Derby, then spent his early adult life serving with the Notts and Derbys Sherwood Foresters, first posted overseas in Singapore, then on to active service in Northern Ireland during the troubles. It was whilst on leave 'back home' that he met Jean and there began their lifelong journey together.
Oliver and Jean will be remembered in a double service at St. Michaels Church and afterwards at the Carnfield Club, Lees Lane, of course, any friends, neighbours or colleagues, are most welcome to attend the service at church and join with their life remembrance celebration afterwards.
Full floral sprays are being provided by the family and Oliver had also expressed his preference for donations towards Cancer Research rather than any guests' financial outlay on flowers, believing it to have a more worthy, long term effect.

Hi dad Just saying hope you and mum are with Craig celebrating his 45th birthday today. It is also Mikayla-Rose (monkeys) birthday today. 6 wow time does fly. They doing party games for her birthday today at school. She had loads of prezzies especially books which she reads for an 8-12 year old. We going for a meal after school and build a bear for her birthday which I know you 3 would have been present with us so there will be 3 empty chairs. So have a drink with mum and Craig today dad. Hi dad really missing you loads. Still feel really lost and lonely without you, mum and Craig. Mikayla-Rose (monkey) will be getting a certificate for reading two Mr.Men stories in front of class today and 4 teachers. She knows her time also. Her teacher said she spoke loud and confident reading and he said she did brilliantly. I am so proud of her and I know you would have been to. So quiet without you dad. Happy 59th Wedding Anniversary Grandad you old man haha (what I used to call you sometimes haha) really missing you, so not the same without you at least I saved those voice audios with your voice and Granny's voice, also Craig's voice too and I still have those funny faces what I took of you and Granny haha.

Oh I wish I could hear ya vocie again dad but until my dieing day you 3 meet me in the sky then I can hear ya vocies again. Hi dad hope you and mum are having a coffee with Criag. I feel lost and lonely as you 3 were gone in a short space of time between each other. Good news with (Monkey) Mikayla's teacher saying she is knowledgable and outstanding. She is number 1 in class with her reading. Hi dad it was nice coming to see you and mum at South Normanton, which me and Shez put flowers on and a new memorial, also a butterfly from the grandkids. I gave you both a wash hahahaha. (I knew you both would laugh at that) Mikayla (monkey) starting new class in September hope she keeps up the good learning.
