My darling Jason
I will love you forevermore and can only hope that we will meet again somewhere, someday. You were too beautiful to leave us all so soon. Your love, your friendship and your humor - there must be bigger things planned for you. I love you Jase x
Lighting a candle for you tonight and will think of you often. You will continue to inspire me for a lifetime.

My dear Jason. I will always remember your strength and how impossibly brave you have been confronting adversity. 2014 brought us closer that we could have ever imagined. Your example helped me to carry on myself in those difficult days, and you will always live in my heart and memories. I will miss you dearly but I want to believe that we will meet again someday. Until then, I hope you will be enjoying the sweetest mangoes you like so much, in that special place where good people like you go to after departing this world. Farewell my friend.

My darling Jason ,
We met when our lives had just started as youg adults full of dreams and experineces waiting to happen. From the small town of Mackay to.the big lights of Bris Vagas, well we thought they were big coming from little old Mackay in Nth Qld . We were kindred spirit you and I.Finding the uniqueness in others and experiences. Discussing interesting detauls and experiences with each other and always finding pure happiness and lets not.forget the laughter we had together. When I look back at this time we had.together I have to say it.was the best time of my life, being with you and having that.time with you.so preciois to me I was one the.first. friends that you came out to and I felt so honoured that.you could feel.safe and.confident to open your heart to me.You were alawys a beautiful strong thoughtful and kind friend to me and I thank you for those years of laughter and love and support you gave to me. Although as the years went on we did drift apart from time to time. We.always came back to one another and it.always seemed that time has.not.passed, our.lives had changed to some.degree but we always remained
connected and always will.
I love you Jas and you will always be with me.
I have been singing Bab's non stop and have left.some words for.you.in memory of us dancing around the.lounge room in Springhill singing Barbara with each other.

'Theres a place for.us
A time and a place for us
hold my hand and we're half way.there
Hold my hand and I'll take you there

Jason was our workmate and friend - this is the obituary we wrote about him.

He was a fabulous colleague, and we are going to miss him so much. He was amazingly positive, and had the ability to see the good in everything. He was always positive and his 'glass more than half full' view of the world was contagious.

He was passionate, committed and keen to get involved in improving healthcare for those diagnosed and living with cancer. He also made a great cup of tea!

Jason never put himself first. When he became unwell, we raised a small collection for him and asked him what he would like. He said he did not need anything, and suggested we donate it to a charity. The funds we raised are now helping care for elephants in Africa.

Jason moved to the UK from Australia's Gold Coast in the early noughties, and worked in healthcare and the NHS ever since. He worked at the Whittington Hospital, then as part of the National Cancer Action Team and joined NEL two years ago.

Jason lived life to the fullest. He loved Spain, Spanish people - especially Spanish men! He was a keen swimmer and cyclist, and after his cancer diagnosis, Jason continued to put the rest of us to shame by regularly taking part in boot camps.

He loved the outdoors. Jason's favourite things were beaches, waterfalls, volcanoes, rainforests and caves. His favourite quote was about the closing ceremony of the Sydney Olympics:

It is more Mardi Gras than Mardi Gras!

We are going to miss him and hope that wherever he is, he is having a decent cup of tea

With love from friends and colleagues at NEL CSU xxxxx

Jason and I worked together for 8 years and spent our careers in many of the same organisations. We used to ask ourselves if we did any good (I think anyone who bothers to ask that already knows the answer is yes). If one patient had a better experience because of the work we did then it was worth it and Jason did more than that - connecting and teaching across a huge part of the country. In our small team he had a calmness and assuredness that made me value him as a colleague and friend. We learned a lot from each other and kept smiling and laughing throughout. And if I annoyed him, he let me know. For the past two years I believe our work gave him a renewed purpose. He left an impression on everyone he met at work and he will be missed keenly and always remembered fondly. Hope to see you in the next one Jason.

It was a pleasure & privilege for me to work with Jason many moons ago at the Whittington Hospital. Always very professional, smart, witty, charming & good company, when we had the chance to chat. So saddened to hear this news. Wishing his family & close friends strength & courage. Memories of Jason will remain strong.

  • Jason was going to work and returned back home from work HAPPY. He loved Working with Sam, Maria and You in the diabetes unit and be part of a team that “got on” really well and always with some little anecdotes to tell back at home. Also eternal thanks to You and Maria for the essential support to Jason to stay indefinitely in the country. He was a great professional, proud of his role within the unit and fulfilled with his global input at the Whittington, including the shifts at the emergency department

Jason, our paths crossed many times over fifteen years: at the gym, at the ponds, in the neighbourhood we lived in in Dartmouth Park. And whenever they crossed, I always came away thinking you had some special quality. Even now, I can't find the right word to describe it. You had a kind of beauty that went beyond your handsome good looks and the warm light of your smile. Something that came from within. It was rare and lovely. It made you a truly beautiful and special man. I shan't forget you. My thoughts are with you and Joaquim and your family.
