In loving memory of Wayne Anthony Wellington who sadly passed away on 9th February 2019. A loving husband to Joanna Wellington and amazing father to Marley, Chloe, Shane, Fiona, Dwayne and Curtis.

Wayne was born on 6 October 1960 in St Elizabeth, Jamaica. His Father Herman (George) migrated to England after Wayne was born. Once settled in Birmingham England, Wayne's mother Joyce followed leaving behind Wayne and his older Brother Zedic with family in Jamaica. They finally settled in Nottingham.

Wayne came to England after the tragic death of his brother Zedic in a road traffic accident in Jamaica. Coming to England was a big upset for a 8 year old boy leaving behind his family and the way of life in Jamaica, Wayne had never met his new family in the UK, his sisters Bridget, Denise, brother David and his youngest sister Christine. Settling in St Anns Nottingham was very different from the countryside of Jamaica.

As an adult Wayne was a very popular individual making many life long friends. He also had some really significant relationships in his life and had 6 wonderful children, sadly losing Kurtis to cot death.

Wayne always prided himself in being a loving and devoted father, his children were his life and he did everything in life to provide for them the best he could. He gave them strong morals and the strength of character to face life's challenges. Marley his youngest child, aged 3 is even showing his strong will and determination now.

We are so proud of Wayne he fought his illness to the last breath. His strength during the lowest points of his illness were truly inspirational, his determination to beat this wicked disease never faulted. Wayne never did anything by half he always want to be different, reach the unreachable. Tell him he couldn’t do something or have something as it was unattainable, he'd prove you wrong. When it came to cancer he didn't treat this any differently. He'd been diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive cancer, but Wayne was determined to fight it. He lived every day with a positive out look. Only given six months Wayne lived a reltively normal life for 19 months until he contracted pneumonia.

I would like to take this opportunity to say how proud of my husband I am, he never complained about the cards he was delt, he never felt sorry for himself. He did everything he could to stay with us as long as he could, which took a lot of commitment, when so many people would have given up, he carried on. He loved his children and was the best father I could wish for, for our daughter Marley. We miss you my daring, you’ve left a huge hole in our lives and my heart is broken with sadness. You are my best friend, my soul mate and it’s always been you and always will be.
Thank you for sharing your life with me and loving me so generously.

so, so sad to hear of Wayne`s passing, all though it was over three years ago,to get this news even now hit me hard. Worked with Wayne at Xanadu , Chesterfield for some time . He was a true gent and old school doorman. Let this be a lesson to all, if you want to get in touch with someone you truly care about, time , sadly time is not always on your side . I have deep regret ! see you soon my friend

I was so young when I left England and very few memories stayed with me along my journey. The memories that stuck I called treasure memories cause they were like priceless gems to me. I’m 33 and still this one memory so vivid of Us. I must’ve been 3 Or 4 yrs old You picked me up over your head and flew me around I just rem laughing so hard I rem feeling so Loved & excited & free and No man has ever flown me as high till this day! U was the biggest strongest man I knew and u were my uncle, My blood. I wish we had made more memories but I’m happy if that’s the only one u made me feel it was beautiful. I’m sure ur absence is felt, ur presence missed and I want to send my love and strength to my Wello family. Even in distance & through time
Always One Love. Eli Wellington
