I am so grateful for all of Derek's help and advice over so many years to my Mum and myself and for all the kind interest shown to my son, Ben. I shall miss our conversations about our respective families and of course, football teams. Derek was a true gentleman who will be missed greatly.

We were so sorry to hear of Derek’s passing - he was our company and personal accountant for in excess of 60 years and we are thankful for all his assistance. He was a truly professional gentleman.

As a novice starting out we were very lucky to have met Derek when he kindly agreed to take on our company accounts. Just starting out he kindly helped to point us in the right direction, for which our family are truly grateful.

Gladys and family we hope that the happy memories of Derek will help to provide comfort.

With deepest sympathy
Des and Jane, Lewis and Callum

We didn’t know Derek very well but we knew of his love for Arsenal and for his family. We heard of the happy family times and gatherings where Derek enjoyed playing cards with his grandchildren. This has been told to us over the years by Karen, Pete, Matt & Ritchie - they loved and respected Derek and will miss him very much.
We wish to send our condolences to Gladys and all the family.
RIP Derek.

I am very sorry to hear of Mr. Root’s passing and can only send along my deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues during this time.

He was someone I respected entirely and his always considerate advice and kind friendship will sorely be missed. Wether it be making time to pick me up from the train station when I travelled up from Hampshire or his more recent visits during his yearly travels to the Devon coast, it was always his generosity, experienced advice and thoughtful friendship that gave me great confidence to keep pushing my small business forward.

Rest in peace Mr. Root.

Sincerely,

Neal Simons

Derek Root has been in my life for over 50 years. He was my father's accountant (when he must have been a young qualified accountant) and then looked after my mother's affairs after which he kindly agreed to take me on! As many people have already mentioned, he was a true gentleman and extremely patient with those of us not always very tidy with our books. I thought he was going to go on for ever and both I and my family, who also knew him, send our sincere condolences to his family. He will be so missed by us all.
