One of the best. Fond memories of a true gent from, as a teenager, scoring his basketball matches at Meadowside to years later at parents evenings when I taught his boys. Such a sad loss, thinking of all those close to him. Xxx

Devastating news. I played Basketball with Birdy through my teen years. His personality and positive attitude were contagious. It was a pleasure to have shared some special times with him, on and off the court. He will be dearly missed by many, in every area of his life, but for his family the loss must be undescribable. My thoughts and love are with you on this very sad day, x

I am so sorry I cannot make Andy’s funeral as I now live in the US. I will raise a glass to him here! I have many fond memories with Andy from our childhood. One of my favorites was the day the ‘sporty girls’ challenged the boys football team to a game!! Let’s just say it didn’t end well for the girls, but we had a lot of fun in the process! Andy was just ‘good people’ you can be very proud of him, I know from conversations we had as adults that’s how he felt about all of you! My sincere and heartfelt condolences x
