  • Hi Sarah-Jane, in the picture show (dated 1943) he was 18 and doing his training in the General Service Corps, he then joined the 7th Battalion of the Royal Norfolk Regiment landing in Normandy a few weeks after d-day, shortly after landing he was transferred to the 1st Buckinghamshire Battalion of the Ox & Bucks Light Infantry until he was demobbed in 1947. By then he was Lance Corporal William Robert Nicholls, but much later on I knew him as Dad. Thank you for your interest.
