In loving memory of Gail Wakeling who sadly passed away on 10th April 2019
I FIRST MET GAIL AT THE GARAGE I WORKED AT, WRAYSBURY GARAGE IT WAS A SMALL VILLAGE GARAGE IN WRAYSBURY THIS IS WHERE HER GRANDPARENTS LIVED. I SERVED MY APPRENTICESHIP THERE AND I THINK I ALMOST NEW JUST ABOUT EVERYBODY IN THE VILLAGE. GAIL LIVED IN STAINES WITH HER PARENTS.
IT WAS JUST BEFORE CHRISTMAS GAIL AND HER DAD BROUGHT HER CAR IN WITH A DRIVESHAFT ISSUE, I REMEMBER SHE WAS DRESSED IN HER SMART MANAGERS UNIFORM , LONG WAVEY DARK BROWN HAIR,GAIL WAS REALLY PRETTY AND HAD A LOVELY SMILE. SHE HANDED ME THE KEYS WITH HER NAME AND CONTACT PHONE NUMBER AND DROVE OFF WITH HER DAD. I SAID TO MY BOSS, I WANT TO WORK ON HER CAR WHICH I DID, IT TOOK A WHILE TO GET BITS AND STAYED OVER CHRISTMAS. I REPAIRED THE CAR, RUNG THE NUMBER AND SPOKE TO HER MUM. GAIL AND HER DAD PICKED THE CAR UP AND PAID THE BILL WHICH I GAVE HER,SHE SMILED AS SHE PAID AND I MUSTERED UP THE COURAGE AND ASKED IF I COULD TAKE HER OUT FOR A DRINK, SHE SMILED AT ME AND SAID "YOU HAVE GOT MY NUMBER" SHE GOT IN HER CAR AND DROVE AWAY. I REMEMBER THINKING AT THAT POINT THAT I FELT LIKE THE LUCKIEST MAN IN THE WORLD.
I WAS ABSOLUTELY ASTOUNDED THAT SUCH A PRETTY GIRL WOULD GIVE A DIRTY GREASY SKINNY PERSON LIKE ME A SECOND GLANCE. I WALKED DOWN TO THE PHONE BOX THE FOLLOWING EVENING SO I COULD TALK TO HER IN PRIVATE. THAT PHONE BOX AND I HAD A VERY GOOD RELATIONSHIP FOR QUITE A LONG TIME I WAS PROBABLY ITS BEST PAYING CUSTOMER AS WE WOULD TALK FOR AGES.
IF I WAS TO BE HONEST I THINK I FELL IN LOVE WITH GAIL THE FIRST TIME I SAW HER AND I KNEW THAT SHE WAS THE ONE.
GAIL ALWAYS PUT OTHERS BEFORE HERSELF EVERY DAY AND IN EVERYTHING SHE DID. SHE WOULD GO THAT EXTRA MILE TO MAKE OTHER PEOPLE SMILE. SHE LOVED MAKING PEOPLE HAPPY. GAIL WAS A WONDERFUL, LOVING AND CARING MOTHER. NOTHING WAS TOO MUCH TROUBLE FOR GAIL SHE WOULD GO WITHOUT JUST SO SOMEONE ELSE COULD HAVE, THAT IS HOW GAIL WAS.
WE ALL MISS GAIL VERY MUCH I AM BROKEN HEARTED MY LIFE FEELS VERY EMPTY BUT I SEE HER IN THE CHILDREN EVERYDAY THEY ARE THE BEST OF GAIL, THEY ARE HER LEGACY. I ONLY WISH THAT I HAD TOLD GAIL HOW MUCH I LOVED HER MORE OFTEN BUT DEEP DOWN I THINK SHE KNEW THAT AND WOULD PROBABLY HAVE TOLD ME NOT TO BE SO SILLY.

I only heard of Gail's passing yesterday and it felt like a punch in the face. I can't really describe myself as friend or even a work colleague but I had got to know Gail and the family in my professional job. I always thought of Gail, as the glue that held the family together. It always impressed me how very hard that Gail fought for someone to listen to the needs of her family but in particular for the correct support for her daughters.

On doing home visits it was always a friendly warm and welcoming environment always with a cup of tea and a cat to cuddle. My own cats always knew on what days I had visited Gail and the family.

It was my sincere hope that once Gail had won her various battles with the education processes that she would have a chance to enjoy some of that much needed me time that we should have the right to enjoy and I cannot believe how unbelievably cruel fate as treated this most worthy, warm kind hearted of individuals.

I know that Gail made a positive impact on all those that had met her and it is so very sad that one of the warmest of lights has gone out far too early.

To Terry and the children, I sincerely wish you the kindest of thoughts and my deepest sympathy for your loss which has left a massive gap in your hearts.
