Irene Muir a woman of many titles.
Husband of Allan
Mother of Margaret Ann
Nana to Shelbi, James and Kian
Big sis to John, Jimer, Billy and Joe
Bank of big sis to Tommy and Mick
Niece to many
Aunty to even more
And friend to many many more.

Irene was born on 14th January 1962 the first child and only daughter of Jimmy and Margaret Todd. She went to St Jude’s Primary school then St Andrews Secondary. She left school in 1978 a strong willed and independent lady. She became pregnant and gave birth to Margaret Ann on 31st Dec 1980.
Irene got a CB radio and began chatting to people on air and soon got to know Allan. They decided to have an eyeball (a face to face meeting) and on 1st of April 1982 they met and something special happened because they were married on the 25th June the same year. Irene got a job in the little chef in Baillieston and worked there for several years before it shut down. She then moved on to the Carousel wafer factory and a few years later it shut down. Then she went on to work in McKellar Watts working the early shift. She always said that she hated it but was always first in and last out catching up on the gossip and helping others out. She worked in there for a number of years before it also shut down so she decided to retire from working to give Glasgow’s economy a chance to recover.
In the early 2000s Irene’s uncle Hammy and auntie Liz got a caravan in Spain Irene spent many a happy holiday there with her bestie wee auntie Joanie along with Hammy and Liz and when she could get him to go her husband Allan. Irene was at the caravan and flew home on the 5th May and sadly just 24 hours later she became ill and fell into a coma from which she never recovered and sadly passed away on the evening of the 11th May.
One final thought, Irene always put others before herself and was often asked to choose birthday cards and presents by her brothers so it would have made her smile to know that it is her dads birthday on the day of her funeral and he is getting the best present ever.

My deepest sympathy to all of Irene's family.
Obviously I knew Irene from school and Barlanark, I'd not seen her for years but chatted on Facebook a wee bit. I know that she loved her family and was very proud of her daughter and grandchildren.
I'll always remember Irene when we were at St. Andrews and something silly was happening (I can't remember what) but she casually stood next to me and said something that made me think of things in a different way. One of few people, who's fleeting words can change lives.
I'll always think of her when I'm in Benidorm x
