My self and Mark Springett were Gordon’s very first customers at the chequers all those years ago, many of us spent many a late evening playing him up in the early days getting a regular lock in and he always threaten us that this will end when the Mrs arrives as Gill stayed on for a while at the old pub, she wasn't that bad!!! many a late evening around 11pm the wheel barrow, hammers and saws came out and you got fed and plenty of beer if you stayed on to help demolish walls and the bar until early hours of the morning with Charlie and Trev Tev at the helm!! and a new bar and open plan pub by the morning with one Christmas acrow prop holding up the ceiling with tinsel on,we often laughed and got told to clear off!!! at his great inventions and the upside down ice bucket lamp shade and the famous thumb in the light electric socket made us all laugh again in our memories the other evening and all the other great and funny times we had over the last 30 odd years that will never be forgotten.
“So mote it be” me old mate.
