I had the privilege of meeting and staying with my cousins, Alistair and Ella Ross, in August of 2003. While in Edinburgh they took me to Longniddry to meet another cousin, Dorothy Mathie. I have wonderful memories of Ella and Alistair. And I got to meet Audrey in person, after years of letter writing as children.

We knew Alastair as a neighbour in Clayknowes Court. We have wonderful memories of such entertaining lunches and coffees we shared with Alastair regaling us with stories of his life and the railways! He was a real gentleman and we shall miss him John and Alison Graham

We recall a lovely stroll around Edinburgh in 2012 when Alistair introduced us to his beloved city, its history and its grand features. He gave us a lesson in hospitality by inviting us to stay in his home where his son Ken and his daughter-in-law Chris treated us to a real Scots feast. In losing Alistair, we have all lost a great and good man.

We got together a few years ago to look at old photos and meet American visitors. We had a great day and I hoped we'd meet again soon. Sadly not to be.

Colin and I send our heartfelt condolences on the death of your dad, Audrey and Kenny. He was a great friend. Loved his sense of humour, and of course, he was the husband of my very best friend Ella. I still miss her. They are together now. Much love. Betty and Colin. xx
