Iris Leigh (21 Feb 1929 - 2 Jul 2019)

In loving memory of Iris Leigh who sadly passed away on 2nd July 2019.

Iris was born on the 21st February 1929 to Frank and Florence Sandry in Stratford, West Ham. The eldest of 4 children, Iris, along with her siblings, Peter, Marjorie and David, were of that generation that lived through the Second World War and endured tragedy and loss with a stoicism and unfailing optimism seldom seen today. Despite the loss of her sister, June and mother at an early age, her stories of her childhood were always full of joy and laughter and were a source of inspiration to her own children.

Iris will be remembered fondly for her beaming grin, her ready wit and generosity of spirit. It was her boundless sense of humour and steadfast faith in Jehovah that was her solace during hardship. Although, at times, materially impoverished, she was rich beyond compare with the love of her friends, her family and her God.

We miss her desperately but are consoled by the joy she brought to the lives of all who knew her.
