Adam David Przeslak (13 Jun 1985 - 18 Mar 2015)

In loving memory of the late Adam David Przeslak who sadly passed away on 18th March 2015.

Adam was born on the 13th June 1985 in Glasgow to Andrew and Cynthia Przeslak. He had a sister Katherine. We moved to Nottingham when Adam was about a year old and we settled in West Bridgford. He was a lovely and intelligent boy with a natural curiosity. He had blond curly hair which could make him look angelic at times, but with an impish and mischievous streak. He was interested in science and gardening.

Adam grew up in a close-knit family with his sister. Our family celebrations were generally spent in St Albans, Hertfordshire or Winslow, Buckinghamshire where we would meet up with his grand-parents, uncles, aunts and cousins. These would always include Christmas and Easter parties. In later years he inherited the duty of taking the group family photographes. The result is a series of images showing the growth and development of our extended family. This inspired a love of photography which expanded into other areas of his activities.

Our regular outings would be walks in the Peak District with our dog - always a large munsterlander (like a springer spaniel on longer legs) - first Gail, then Astra and more recently Echo. Every autumn we would go for a short holiday mushrooming in the New Forest which Adam loved. He grew to be able to confidently identify all the ones we collected. Family summer holidays were spent camping in different parts of France and then the rest of Europe. Each year we would explore new regions and have exciting adventures.

He went to Jesse Gray Primary School, just round the corner from our house. His secondary school was West Bridgford Comprehensive School, where his mother Cynthia taught chemistry and biology - fortunately, Adam was never in Cynthia's classes. Nevertheless, this still must have been awkward at times. At school Adam showed an aptitude for sciences and duly chose to study chemistry at university. He achieved a first class masters degree in chemistry in 2011. He was drawn to research and went on to do a PhD in organic chemistry.

His love of gardening developed in the direction of orchid growing and he always had a selection or orchids in his room. He also liked growing vegetables.

Around the house, Adam learnt to cook and found that he enjoyed the challenge of creating new and interesting meals. His particular love was for cakes and deserts. His baking was renowned among the family, the chemsitry department at University of Nottingham and his many friends. Who will forget his lime cheesecake with red berry coulis, Croque-en-bouche, strawberry and vanilla chequerboard cake or his multi-flavoured macaroons.

Although Adam loved our dog Echo, he also liked other pets. He inspired us to set up a tropical fish tank and helped us tend it. It contained tetras, gouramis, glass catfish and guppies, among others. When he got a house of his own, he set up a tropical marine tank with corals, shrimps, crabs and multi-coloured fish.

More recently, after trying various actvities he finally found that he loved rock climbing - on artificial walls, bouldering, sport climbing and even trad climbing. During the week, he would often spend an evening or two at a climbing wall. At weekends he would look forward to a day's climbing in the Peak District or a weekend trip to Snowdonia or the Lake District.

In the last weeks of his life, Adam lost his way. He knew that his family and friends would give him unconditional help, love and support. But he could not show the hurt and pain which he felt. Maybe he just couldn't burden others? We will never know.

We will all greatly miss him and love him forever. In the messages we have received from his friends, we have seen how he touched their lives. His smile and humour will be remembered as well as his enthusiam for his passions, his willingness to help others and his generosity of spirit. We hope you are now at peace.
