In loving memory of Phyllis Irene Bryant who sadly passed away on 7th July 2015 aged 88 years. Phyllis spent most of her life living in Keynsham where she was a key pillar of the local community, only in the last 10 years moving to live with her son in the Camberley area. Phyllis was married to Eddie, the love of her life, until he sadly passed away in 1992 and leaves a sister, Joan who has been her lifelong confidant and friend.

Phyllis was involved in many social and community activities, ranging from dancing to politics. She spenr the majority of her working life as first a vvolunteer and then an administrator at Keynsham clinic, with a period of working as the secretary and receptionist for local GP Dr Bailey (Bill Baileys Dad!). She was never happier than when she was able to help others in need for whom she showed great compassion and a practical application of Christainity.

Phyllis was struck by Dementia and Altzheimers and subsequently spent the last 18 months of her life in the care of the staff of Randell House, Blackwater, Despite the illness she retained her short term memeory and so was able to derive confort from the familiarity of those around her and expecially from the regular visits her son James. Thanks to the kindness and compassion of the staff, Phyllis was attentively cared for through out and eventually slipped away gently, having spent all day with her son, James.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

My younger sister was my best friend. We lived on a small holding at Furber Road in Hanham. We entertained ourselves, made dens, fed the chickens and generally had a very happy childhood. She was intelligent and practical and was not held back by the ill health she suffered as a child. Her greatest love was dancing - she took all her medals and we spent many happy hours at Hubert Brights dance school during the war, despite the bombing raids on Bristol. She met her husband Eddie at one such dance and they had a lifetime of happiness. It was love at first sight without a doubt! Phyllis was also a proud mother to James. I often think about the 88 years we have been the closest of sisters and I will miss her. Joan Loughman xx

I have very fond memories of Auntie Phyllis (as we called her) and loved our long chats. She had such a great sense of humour and was so loving and welcoming. I can clearly remember her showing me around the garden at Keynsham, which seems like it was about 10 years ago but must have been more like 38 years ago!
