With a tranquil view over green valleys and quaint villages, Mountsett Crematorium, in the outskirts of Dipton in Durham, was opened in 1966. Surrounded by woodlands and a diversity of flora and fauna, the crematorium offers various options for a funeral service for your loved one.

Families may witness the interment of cremated remains within crematorium grounds or in one of the plots in the memorial garden. Alternatively, those who prefer to retain ashes or scatter it at another location may be given the cremated remains by the funeral director in a scatter tube.

Mountsett Crematorium has a well-lit and cosy chapel at its entrance, offering a peaceful space for family and friends to sit in silence and mourn their loved ones. It can seat up to 120 people, with standing space for 100. The chapel has a modern media system including a digital music system, large screens where photos or a video tribute can be played and webcasting and recording services. There is an organ at the chapel which can be used for funeral music and an induction loop system is fitted for those who have difficulty hearing.

Families may choose to dedicate an everlasting tribute to their loved one with an entry into the Book of Remembrance which is displayed in the Book of Remembrance building. Adjacent to this is an area for floral tributes where family and friends can leave flowers in memory of their loved one. Around the walls of the building is the Wall of Remembrance where large wall plaques made of Caithness Stone is placed for viewing. Families can also choose to dedicate memorial seats in and around the memorial gardens bearing personalised plaques with your choice of inscription.

Car parking included disabled parking is available for up to 55 cars.

The crematorium is open on weekdays from 9 am to 4 pm and the chapel and Book of Remembrance Building is open every day of the year.
