Richard Alfred Hallett, 88, passed away in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh on Saturday 16th April 2016.
He was born to Thomas and Clara (Jane) Hallett in Bedminster, Bristol on 27th July 1927.
On leaving school he joined the Merchant Navy and at the age of 15, in August 1942, was part of WWII Operation Pedestal.
Later he served as a Second Mate, Navigation Officer before employment as a skilled toolmaker in land-based light engineering firms.
In his leisure time he enjoyed photography at a semi-professional level as well as being a keen gardener & player of golf.
Socially he liked to sing the songs of The Rat Pack & other Crooners.
From 2007 he was delighted to have the opportunity to entertain others at karaoke evenings in the sheltered housing complex where he lived.
Richard, father of Corinne & grandfather of Staicia, was a kind and thoughtful person loved by all that knew him. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed.
