For those of you who knew Eddie you will remember him as a loveable rogue, a larrikin, a unique character who loved a good yarn and a joke with his mates over a pint of Guinness.

Eddie loved his books, he was an avid reader, a well-read man. There wasn't a subject he didn't know about or have an opinion on, he was passionate about people, politics and history.

The Orkney Islands stole his spiritual heart...

Eddie was a keen cyclist, and on one of his many adventures he cycled the breadth of Britain and found his 'Shangri-La' on the northern windswept isles of Scotland. Here he settled with his daughter where they both thrived in their new island life.
Whilst in Orkney Eddie and a bunch of friends started a diving group which also became his new-found passion.

Diving took over his life, he loved swimming with his diving buddies exploring the scuppered WWII wrecks of Scapa Flow, finding coal on the seabed and bringing that home for the stove, or fresh clams straight into the frying pan. Eddie found a deep peace and serenity beneath the surface of the sea, swimming around with the seals where he could forget all his troubles and lose himself in the dark subterranean mystery and beauty that surrounded him.

Eddie was a great lover of music, and was often heard singing or whistling tunes from his inimitable internal jukebox. Whether at work, rest or play there was always music.

Eddie was truly loved and cherished. He was ruggedly handsome with a boyish charm, a cheeky grin and a mischievous glint in his eye.

Eddie was an adventurer, a hard worker, talented, creative, a great cook, and a wonderful story teller.

Eddie had a tender, fragile and loyal heart that was, in its essence, full of love, care and generosity.

Ta Ta Eddie
God Bless

Tonina Harvey donated in memory of Eddie

We shared a wonderful 70th birthday celebration in Australia with Eddie a few years ago. On this visit I remember his joy in just spending time with us relaying tales of the daily adventures with Jonnie as he experienced all that Sydney had to offer. We listened to some music , shared some wine and a hearty meal and it seemed that the simplicity of just doing this with him was such a great gift. Our thoughts and love to Jonnie and all those who share moments and friendship with this gentle man. I know hearts are heavy but ever enriched by his life, 💖 Much Love Tonina, Kt and Dusty xx
